Does anyone really believe TSUN had 55,124 there yesterday?

Had an MSUfriend there that said it looked under 50K. They showed the endzone after they returned the INT and it looked half empty. Combine thatwith the upper decks that I heard had some pretty large patches of no one sitting there. Anyone else there that may have a better clue as to the actual attendance?

upon entrance - the 55K + is dead on. And that is actual attendance, not tickets sold.

spin the tickets sold number. The scanning is in place to allow transfer of tickets and to catch stolen, lost, or counterfeit tickets, and to tell them how many people are in the Grove vs the stadium.

and has for years. Last year they reported over 50,000 ofr a game that was less than half full. Even the Clarion-Ledger mocked them. Ole Miss hasn't reported actual attendance in the past 5 to 7 years. Too embarrassing.

Not by ole miss standards anyway. Only section that didn't look mostly full was the endzone bleachers.

It just looked weird for en entire section be empty outside of a few people scattered around

next week when the Saluki's come to town.

It wasn't a horrible crowd, but what I didn't see was a stadium that is in need of expansion. This was a home opener with good weatheragainst a national programthat was favored to beat them....not a UT Martin or Southern Illinois type team. No reason it shouldn't have been completely full.

That said, after going to a lifetime of Ole Miss games - often season openers after crappy seasons - I thought the crowd and atmosphere were pretty good. 80% of the fans actually wore red and were pretty loud. As much crap as the students catch (accurately), they showed up early for once and they weren't too cool to try some of the new pre-game cheers, etc... I didn't seem like an Ole Miss game...until our coaching and offense managed to lose a winnable game at the last minute.
