Nailed it. He's not in a slump. He's just a terrible shooter. One look at his shot should tell anyone that. It just looks awful. For the record, last year he was 33% from the field and 24% on 3s. This year, he's 30% and 33%. He just needs to stop shooting period.
What is about his shot you don't like? I happen to think it looks pretty good. He usually finds a way to be square when he releases it, his follow through is nice, elbows could maybe be in a little more but to each his own on that one.
It just seems to me that he comes from too far behind his head to shoot. To me, the shot should start from just above your forehead. His seems to start from just above the top of his head, and maybe even a little behind that. I could be wrong, but that's my impression from watching him. I do like the way he hustles and plays defense, and his attitude seems good. I just don't like his shot.
I'd been under the impression that he was a lights out shooter in high school, but I just looked up his high school stats and discovered he only shot 32% on 3 pointers for his career. I'm now leaning towards the opinion that he's not in a long slump, rather that he's just not a great shooter. He's still got time to pick it up though, hopefully it'll happen.
