Does Freeze sound like Croom at his first Media Days?

1. All he has to sell is a town. Not program, not fan support, not atmosphere, a town<div>
</div><div>2. He just mentioned that his Arkansas State team last year was deeper than Ole Miss this year.</div><div>
</div><div>3. He has no idea who is QB will be.</div><div>
</div><div>4. Says only 60% of the players have bought into the program.</div><div>
</div><div>5. Says only 50% of the offense has been installed. Hey dude, you only have like 3 weeks of practice left to install the rest.</div><div>
</div><div>6. He also just said that the Egg Bowl isn't a priority right now. He has bigger worries.</div><div>
</div><div>The expectation level doesn't seem to be very high. I am not sure if it really could be, but jeez this guy is setting everyone up for a debacle </div>

he was quoted as saying he quit installing the offense because the players were not picking it up and he was not going to add anything else until they mastered what had already been implemented. Sounds like they are still trying to master that. If the comment is true that only 60% of the players have bought into the program that could be very telling. Just throwing stuff against the wall here to see what sticks but I wonder if it could be due to him being stricter than Nutt and the players not liking that and not wanting to play for him. Croom had to run off a lot of the team he inherited his first season too. Could be yet another similarity.

remeber the Maine

edit to add: I understand speaking the truth about your team and all but saying that his team atArkansasState had more talent and depth lastyear than what he has now at OM cannot be a good way to build a relationship with the team. Is he alreadytaking Croom's stance of throwing the players under the bus too?

seeing how that fan base is going to react to what people are expecting to happen. If things are this bad, I don't see them being good enough in two or three years to keep freeze in oxford. If rebel fans don't display patience in this situation, they never will and since the glory days before integration aren't coming back, they are in for an overall miserable football life.

and he doesn't want to be the one that gets blamed.

In all honesty, I don't think there's anything wrong preparing your fanbase for a rough time, but I would try to steer away from downright belittling your team. Croom had a bad habit of doing that and in that regard, I do find the quotes pretty similar.

They seem to be eating this **** up and enjoying it.

Per the twitter machine:

</p>

/Am I wrong, but didn't they happily drink all the blue and red cool-aid that O and Nutt passed around???

own prophecy is a dangerous game. I find it hard to believe he said all these things with a straight face. They simply aren't as bad as<div>he is making out, I don't believe it. If he keeps talking like this he may convince his players they really are ******.</div>

"Look what I did with this roster, can't wait till we get better players" otherwise when they win 3, he'll say "See I told you I didn't have ****"

A lot better to say something along the lines of "We'll definitely be playing teams that are more talented than us this year, but talent isn't everything. We're going to continue working hard in the offseason, and play hard during practice and games and execute our gameplan. When you do that, you can win some games, no matter what league you're playing in."

That gives him his Cover your *** statement, but doesn't tell your team that you think they only have a chance of beating three of your OOC opponents and maybe UK.

The more he can downplay the current team and blame the previous guy the more competent he will look.
Freeze knows he needs 4 years to get to .500 and he might not get it if he raises expectations.
Does that sound like our current President? The problem is, that he is in year 4 and nothing is better...

..that comes up here, but if Croom would have been this pessimsitic & long in the mouth at his first Media Days conference, MSU's student body would have rioted.

That's not only impressive.....it's damn near impossible, and complete ********. Sounds like the Entire university is on board with this turn around. I just now got to watch his presser, and I am not impressed. Got to give him credit for mentioning Eli 73 times though....that must have been part of the deal with Archay when the search committee arrived at ASU on Air Force 1. He also spoke repeatedly about the "Rebel Nation", which I don't like to hear from any head coach more than 0 times in an interview....and that includes Mullen if he's ever said "bulldog nation".

what happened between the time Bucky stood up there in Oxford and talked about that 'basketball on grass' excitement he was bringing to the SEC and the Media Days where his team has less talent than Arky State? <br><br>

All those Spring practice 'we are getting better and better' quotes have evaporated into ... Hey, it's not my fault if we suck this year message.
