Does Huggs switch up the defense or go with what's got WVU here?
lol, I've flushed more basketball knowledge than you have.... So you want to incorporate a triangle-2 zone................ who gets the man coverage? You want to exhaust energy man-covering the Harrisons, who don't shoot the ball well from deep? Oh, I know....... you wanted to apply tough pressure on Tyler Ulis, with him being undersized and a freshman................. but how is that different than our normal scheme again? So, you just want to clog the lane with a 3-man zone........ because UK is bigger than us, right? I ask again, what does that idea accomplish that our current 1-1-3 zone attack defense doesn't? No. We stay the course with #PressVirginia because of all the things UK has over WVU (size, athleticism, skill) it does NOT have decision-making ability.......... UK commits 11 turnovers a game while playing a slow, methodical style of basketball.... We want to make them pass the ball in the full court and get it stuck in the hands of their bigs far out from the basket...... What else does UK not do well? Like WVU, they don't shoot the 3 at anything more than average (34%). Just like in 2010, if WVU can provoke UK into increasing their perimeter attempts (15/game), then assuming they remain consistent with that %, they will likely struggle to score.... as opposed to their high-percentage shooting under the basket. a triangle-2 zone is utilized when an opposition's strength is in a 2-guard system.......... UK is an interior-dominant program.
