If you want to complain about cola being involved, just remember that teachers that are going to "receive" pensions are not going to receive social security. So for young teachers *ahem* we are probably not going to be accounted for on either end. This causes a huge problem, especially when some people have paid to both SS and TRS.

I'm not sure of your situation JC but the courts in Illinos have been steadfast in ruling on the diminished benefits clause. Unions have been open to compromise but even those compromises have been ruled unconstitutional in court. The only way to change it right now seems to be through a constitutional convention.

Federal employee. Obama says no cola, so I get no cola.

Not sure how it works, but it sounds to me like activist judges.

Besides, Congress can always create new law, that's how it's supposed to work.
