Does Jans need an "OC"?

I think he's a good coach, organizer, and I really think his style works at MSU because we aren't going to recruit enough kids who are elite scorers.

I know we are blaming the evals (which are a part of the problem), but can't it also be an issue of just not running a good offense? Just look at how many kids get here and look lost on offense. Kids that average 10-13 pts, while shooting 38% from 3, get here and turn into Ben Wallace. Let's be honest, its MOST of the kids that we bring in. Not just 1 or 2.

I think Hubb has been deodorant for how poor his offensive coaching really is.

I ask this as a general fan of Jans, but if he needs someone to teach the team offense, and he needs a team to help him figure out how to evaluate and recruit talent, what are we paying him $4M for? To teach kids how to box out?

Last year we were in the 80s in OER. But there were 2 advanced metrics that apparently showed us as top 30 in offense which makes me question the metric more than anything. But that may lead Jans to think he has been fine offensively.

The lack of guard play, outside of a ball hog, and an undisciplined offense has been the trademark of Janstastic’s tenure. That and not adapting to the personnel.

Last year should have been a run and gun team but they tried to make it fit with Jan’s boring scheme that still doesn’t work.

Melendez and Kugel are good players but they were totally wasted in that offense. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all of a sudden Kugel is now averaging 15 and shooting 41% from three.

We used a starting spot for a “glue guy” in Cam that had absolutely zero offensive skill and disappeared in the middle of the SEC season. Now this year you have the same thing with Jones. Couple that with a big man that is doing absolutely nothing and you get what you get.

Apparently he needs an OC and a DC. Defense has been as bad or worse than the offense the past 2 seasons. Last year we were better offensively but couldnt play defense. This year the offense is bad again and we still cant slow anyone down defensively. We really dont do anything well on either end this year. Can't even make free throws.

Yes he needs an OC. the offense is an embarrassment, a good hs coach could draw up a basic system that entails movement, cuts, screens, to generate open looks and higher percentage shots while wearing the defense down.

inexcusble.

The first year Jans was here, I thought the offense looked great. We got lots of open shots just had zero players to make them. It occurs to me (way too late) that maybe we got a lot of open shots because defenses knew they could be lazy. But it sure looked like we moved the ball and executed the offense at the time.

Same problem Stan’s had.

how many times did we call a time out under Stan’s to have a terrible inbounds play and turnover?

Or the stansbury stall?

Jan's offense is literally so bad I can't watch it. It's what decent players look like with horrible coaching. They can't even set a real screen and have little to no purpose in anything they do on offense.
