He has the ability as anyone does to get on the field and disrupt the extra point, or call timeout.

Yup. Call a timeout and use his challenge. He wins the challenge getting the timeout back and we win the game. Unacceptable he didn't.

Right. Worst case scenario, he gets an unsportsmanlike penalty called, but even that would have been worth it considering the stakes.

At the end of the day, though, this isn’t one where I blame Leach. His staff, his players, the SEC office, and the back judge all deserve it, but I don’t fault him for that play

I’ve seen countless times the defense call timeout to challenge a call. This is why the offensive team often hurries to snap the ball. If I’m the Memphis coach I’m telling my PAT team to snap ASAP. I don’t care if you screw up the PAT. Just snap the ball before someone tells the opposing coach to call timeout.

I don’t blame Leach much for this one. If he didn’t see what happened, what does he challenge? That’s a live ball for the return team and a no lose situation- the guy did a great heads up job of coming in and grabbing the ball when our guys didn’t pick it up. Leach had to assume we never grabbed it if he didn’t have a good view.

Between refs, replay officials, coaching staff, and players, it is just astounding that NOBODY stopped it from happening.

We pay him to challenge ******** game deciding miss-calls. It's literally his job to challenge there wether he saw it or not. He's the last line and only line of defense we have to correct something egregiously incorrect. His reaction during and post is unacceptable. Period. It's a fireable offense and would be exactly that if it was the Egg Bowl or vs Bama.

The Replay Official stopped play to review a play for targeting that did hit the helmet of Marks and said there was no targeting. You could see it happens on the forward camera and it knocked Marks out of the game.

Then he does not stop play on the punt cluster 17.

I bet you money they say nothing about the in Birmingham.

We beat ourselves, no doubt. But if more than one official in the game, especially the one with 17ing televisions to see what happened repeatedly dropped the bail then something is very wrong with that entire crew and the entire system questionable.

I assume that Leach knows the rule and knows we didn’t properly down the ball and it was a live ball, which is why he didn’t argue. I’m also assuming he didn’t see the back judge wave his arms above his head. But somebody in the booth damn sure should’ve seen it and radioed down to Leach to challenge. The TV announcers saw it, so somebody in the booth with access to a television should’ve seen it too.

The only competent people on the field at the time were the Memphis players and coaches for kicking the extra point immediately. Everyone else failed miserably.
