Does MSU lose more players to tranfer than other SEC schools?

Whether Kodi leaves or not, it sure does seem like we lose more players to transfers than the other SEC programs. But I seem to recall someone researching this last year and finding out that while recently we have lost the most, a lot of programs are a lot closer than you would think.

I just don't understand why this is such an issue for us. Certainly every team has extremely talented young players that believe, along with momma, daddy, their old high school coach and their AAU coach, that they should never leave the floor under any circumstances. So how do the others keep them happy?

according to some research someone did last year. However, i think we lose more impact players than anyone. We lost 4 starters over a 3 years period. And we may lose a guy that started some for us this year and could easily start for us next.

its an SEC problem and we are one of the leaders. They talked about the high number of players leaving SEC schools lately and the lack of bigtime talent signing the last few years...We are definitely one of the leaders in the SEC, and it could become worse this offseason it appears

They seem convinced that AJ Stewart and DeAndre Liggins will transfer. That's a juco 4* and a highly recruited 5* that might be leaving. They also seem convinced that Meeks and Patterson are gone to the NBA. If that's the case, Kentucky will be worse next year than this year. I don't think we're in as bad a shape as some people on this board think we are.

did some checking on this- and it could have been you for all I know...but there is no way we arent one of the conference leaders in players leaving that start or play significant minutes.

Its also enough of a problem for the SEC for it to be discussed for 5 minutes on Gameday about a month ago- so its not like I just pulled this out of my ***- DS watched it too and commented on it

and you have nothing but speculation to back up your statement.

Nobody is blind to the fact that we've had a number of players leave. However, whether we're among the leaders (which I would define as top 3) in the SEC is up for debate, at least until you produce some numbers.

nobody cares if bench riders want to go somewhere where they can play. Its guys that are starting or playing significant minutes transferring that's the problem Therefore, the total number of transfers is an irrelevant comparison.

....find me another school that loses starters or players with significant minutes at the rate we do. There's nobody out there.

Why is the talent leaving/passing up the SEC these days? I don't keep up with college basketball in great detail outside of the SEC, so I'm a little naive on this one. </p>

Is it the ESPN fellation of the Big East/ACC every year? Players just want to play for somebody where their ego will get stroked (can't blame them)? If so, couldn't this change in the coming years with the new SEC TV contract and the tripling of ESPN SEC basketball coverage? I assume love fest for all things East will shift a little to the South when the contract kicks in.</p>

We are he leaders in transfers. Why?
Stans makes promises he can not keep, he tells these guys what they want to hear to get them to sign and come to S-Vegas. Then said player gets here and those promises are broken, he gets labled as a player with a "bad attitude" and transfers. Stans and J-Money ran off Ben and the Delks. Kodi is just the next in a long line of players. I would not be suprised to see a few more going this year too. Stans has to take the blame for most of these transfers.</p>

in a 12 team SEC with 34 transfers- we have 6...i'm going to go out on a limb and say that having what, 18% of the League's transfers is going to be top 3

I looked at some figures as you did -- not comparing to other programs and went back to 2002 recruiting class -- I believe if we go further back it even works out better for the transfer percentage. Of the guys that were accepted to the University (R. George and R. Bias were not) Alabama signed 21 players from 2002 to 2006. Of those 21, 6 have transferred -- less than 30%. A list of those I viewed;
MSU 10 of 20
AUB 10 of 21
LSU 5 of 17
Bama 6 of 21
KY 6 of 23
Vandy 3 of 15
</div> </div> </div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Back when Jai Lucas decided to transfer, ESPN ran an article about how Florida has been ravaged with transfers much like we have, and it was guys that either were contributing or were expected to contribute in the near future. I remember reading it and thinking it was very similar to our situation. That's the only other school I know that has had the problem to the degree that we have, but we aren't the only one.

that you were wrong. I simply asked you to prove you're right, which you didn't do. So again, thanks to DS for backing up your statement.</p>

And if my post was "pissy," then you're attached to a permanent catheter and the sixpack is your pee bag.</p>
