Does Mullen continue vanilla O and D vs Kentucky?

Will Mullen hold back against an SEC team at their place, even if we are favored? Do you think we should?

We'll have it in our pocket if need be, but I wouldnt look for us to unload on Kentucky either. I think we are saving it for Tennessee

As much as they were cussed at halftime and the end of the South Alabama game.....I don't believe the "holding back" crap.....

Just because you run a cover 2 zone and dont blitz, doesnt mean you dont want it done correctly

I don't think you will see the 3rd string in for KY though. And we shouldn't see the Stansbury hockey line changes on defense either.

Looking ...

over our stats, the one item that shines is TOs. We have thrown 1 Int and lost 1 fumble while we have intercepted 9 and recovered 6 = +13. Other stat that I liked was 4/4 of last four FGs.

Would like to see more of both the O & D we had v Auburn. More agressive D and using TEs, RBs more on O.

RT @KyleNiblett: Only 5 FBS teams have trailed for less total time than @mstateFB in 2012: Notre Dame, TCU, Alabama, Oregon & WVU. Pretty Good company, no?

An even better question: if we play the same way for the rest of the season, is it still vanilla?

I do not see a problem with us holding back against Kentucky. We are 5 weeks into the season, and combine that with preseason practices, we are exactly in the middle of our schedule. Fortunately for us we still have three more games of mediocre competition where we can extend our player development and perfecting the playbook. I am not against us playing vanilla this game. The only major concern is rotating players too often and not allowing our players to develop a rhythm while playing on the road. Fortunately we are playing Kentucky and we have the advantage of doing this one more time on the road this season.

I bet we see MAN coverage on defense against TENN. Bray will flip out since he expects zone coverage. Throw a little ruffle in his feathers and our defense could have a huge day against him.

would that make sense to go to man coverage against Bray ? .... I'm no Coach-34 but that would be pushing the envelope IMO

Bray doesnt like people in his face or to be hit- we got to bring da funk when Tenn comes in the house

I'm pretty sure that we will play our units that will start vs TN as they need to have played in a game more recent thant Auburn.

Whitley needs a blitz package. Could you imagine him getting a clean shot off the edge or a good running start through the middle on a delay blitz? That would turn the game. Might even be worth sacrificing 15 yards.
