With Tommy and Fyfe gone in 2017, QBs left would be...

Tanner Lee-Senior (may get extra year)
Zac Darlington-Senior
AJ Bush-Senior (Could transfer after spring.)
POB-Sophmore

Obviously Gebbia is number 1, but does this staff go after Noah Vedral from Bishop Neumann? Freak athlete. 6'2, 190. Has camped at multiple places to get noticed including TCU/Oregon.

It'll be interesting to see how kind of rivals ranking he gets and who all offers him this spring and summer. Thoughts on Vedral who have seen him play? I've only seen him play basketball and highlights of him on the football field. Hoping I can get watch him some this fall.

Jack Coan from NY has an offer and will visit for the Spring game.

In 2017, Darlington & Bush will both be juniors.

2014 class; redshirt in 2014, freshmen in 2015, sophomores in 2016, juniors in 2017, seniors in 2018.

Taking 2 in this class means we'll have 6 QB scholarships, can't imagine the staff carrying 6 unless Lee only gets approved for one year of eligibility. Regardless, I still think we'll see someone leave after spring ball, most likely candidate is Bush. If someone does leave, then I believe 2 QB' is reasonable in the 2017 class.

Ah my bad, thought Bush and Darlington would be seniors. But yeah I just don't see Bush sticking around.

If we take 2, it'll likely be one of either Gebbia/Coan and then Vedral.

I can't see both Gebbia and Coan coming.

I think they will take Vedral regardless of position. He's easily a Power 5 level athlete who could play any number of positions. He's faster right now than his dad was with the Huskers.

So does this mean Coan does not have an offer now? I'm guessing Macaffrey didn't have a commitable offer either.
FWIW...Where things stood with McCaffrey and NU was all on the kid's side. He narrowed things down to just a couple schools very early with no intention of doing the whole tour the nation thing. They knew exactly what they wanted, looked at those schools only and pretty much didn't bother starting a relationship with any coaching staff outside of those schools once they got the attention of the couple schools they were interested in (NU was not on that inside list and thus why he wasn't high on NU's list). His recruitment (as in giving a verbal...recruiting doesn't really end until NSD lol) actually almost ended months ago but I guess the Stanford wildcard stretched things out a bit.

Think he gets an offer from Nebraska after some summer camps?

Except Nebraska didn't offer months ago. Nebraska offered him after Coan and long after Gebbia.

I'll be surprised if Bush sticks around. I say that assuming that he wants to play a more significant role on the field at some point during his career.

I guess this should be a lesson on why timing of offers can be deceiving. Your staff (I assume) does their own evaluations and it's hard to do one when a kid doesn't visit, send in film/transcripts/info or call you back. If that happens it takes longer to do an evaluation (if the school still chooses to do one and not just move on). That was the case with this kid whose family already knew the lanscape and said thanks but no thanks to a lot of schools who reached out to him. Some schools went and did an evaluation anyway and threw out an offer just in case...looks like NU is in that group.

these early commits are a good thing ... doesn't sound like we had a chance anyway but if Gebbia and Coan are going to go elsewhere I would rather know it sooner rather than later, likewise if some schools who were heavily invested in McCaffery are now going to go after Gebbia and/or Coan that is fine. Would rather get this over with now than have it go down to the wire

He wasn't coming to Nebraska, ever.

Dad, Stanford.
Mom, Stanford.
Brother, Duke.
Brother, Stanford.
Him, Michigan.

Had uncles and cousins attend Duke as well.

Pretty obvious Nebraska was never landing this kid, regardless when he was offered, Huskers stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other schools.
Based on your reasoning UM would be a never also unless I don't follow your thought process.

I know Gebbia, the NY kid and then theres a dual threat kid from Virgina i believe, thats our top 3. I think its Gebbia or the NY kid and the dual threat kid. Thats my guess.

I read in one publication that McCaffrey was a poor man's Gebbia. I was really surprised they applied those terms to a high school kid. Not really fair on their part. Despite his weak arm, they thought he could come in and be competing for 3rd string by his redshirt junior year.

I didn't think Coan was dual threat. Are you thinking the Virginia kid that has somewhat disappeared? Shon Mitchell?

I just seen a read up on either OWH or LJS and they had that S Mitchell as the 3rd QB we where in on and setting setting pretty good with. I believe Gebbia is are main target but also sounds like Coan is a possibility as well, will he be here for spring game?

Just the sounds of it, it was Gebbia or Coan and possibly adding Mitchell if we can get him, too. One pro style and one dual threat. Maybe i miss read or miss understood, it happens here and there.

Im just curious if Coan committed on his visit to spring game if we'd take him, slow play him to see what Gebbia did or what we'd do in this position.

Nah - we don't need no stinking QB...just line 'em up and see who bigga. Any scrub can hand off. We will need to take 11 olinemen, 4 TE, 3 FB and 16 I-backs for this to work.

I believe they take Vedral as an athlete regardless. He is a great athlete but maybe not the type of QB Nebraska is looking for like Gebbia or Coan.

Gebbia is #1 on our board so the only way we take a commit from Coan is if Gebbia is okay with it. Very similar with POB and TW last year around this time.

Please don't entertain him ellobo. Thread was on a good trajectory.

Michigan is a hell of a lot better academic school than Nebraska.
I see your point I was looking at personal connections if academics is a major factor Mich has a much better rep but I think that if it comes down to academics then they too lose out to one of the truly big time accede mic schools, my guess is that he just fell for the Harbaugh antics.

It was a combination of two...well 3 things...well actually 4 things:

1) Stanford is all in on a another qb....that's their call...hope they land him...

2) Michigan (and I say this as an alum) is not Stanford...but we aren't that far off...I could play homer and say things about us that are better...but...20+ years ago Stanford was my reach school and Michigan is where I ended up going (out of state btw)....oh...my point is if you can't go to stanford...Michigan is a great choice...

3) the kid is apparently a huge Tom Brady fan

4) his dad is an nfl executive (and former player) who has been around the block a few times...himself and with his kids...if you think the kid fell for "antics" you should probably question every decision you've made in your entire life...
