Watching them heehaw about it got me to wondering. I actually would have thought it would be a foregone conclusion, but i guess not.

I don't actually think they have a 'training table'. At least they didn't a few years ago. They all had meal plans to Perry. The food used to be good there, I've heard it has gone downhill. So maybe they have something just their own now.

and that's what it's called everywhere. It's a big deal because this is something we've been asking for for a decade. Our players use to eat together in their own cafeteria, but it was a buffet like deal. Powe would have the same diet as Jeff Scott. Now we have a nutritionist who decides what each player eats for each meal. It's in the beginning stages and hopefully by the summer it will be three meals a day. If you don't see how this is better than players eating chickfila every day then you're kidding yourself. hateonku

I do know we were without one for a while and they ate in Perry Cafeteria. Up until the late 80s or possibly the early 90s maybe, the players ate at a separate cafeteria that was in McArthur Hall, the athletic dorm, and their meals were directed to their needs. A revamping of NCAA regulations about that time deemed that service an improper benefit as I recall -- schools everywhere had to adjust their versions of the same -- and we were without such for a while. It's good to learn that it's back.

We may not call it that, but the coaches work with the head chef to develop the menus that they want for the players.

I've had the opportunity to sit down with the football team twice in the past three years and eat supper after spring practices. They eat at the Templeton Center in the dining hall. I know that they had cards they brought in with them that were scanned and their trays were loaded up based on whatever it was the ticket printed out. I think they were allowed some leeway on certain options (what type of dressing on their salad, type of dessert, etc) but portions were certainly controlled as was their selection. We all sat at a large cluster of tables and several coaches (including Mullen and Felker) joined them.

Football eats at the Templeton facility. It's top notch. It's run by Aramark Dining Services who also provides the food for Perry Cafeteria since 2009. It's good stuff. Our athletes don't suffer. The team is put on a strict diet and Balis' G.A's monitor the room to make sure they're sticking to the plan.

I was recently on Georgia's campus in Athens and walked in their "Templeton Facility." Ours is every bit as good if not better.

I had an early class and used to get there when they opened. I would see the lady taking the sausage patties and hand shred them into the milk gravy. The amount of grease pouring through her fingers was astonishing. But made the best biscuits and gravy ever. They could also make a mean omelette, and the waffle station was top notch. But this was just before the late Nineties renovations.

Good memories sitting by the windows studying for class and enjoying a breakfast that my doctor/wife wouldcrucify me for now.

She smiled and fussed over him for a couple of minutes.

The lady never smiled, but she made one hell of a steak & cheese omelet.

I have never had trouble finding something to eat. I also had lunch there every day when the University operated dining services themselves. I think that the Aramark folks have done a great job with the place.
