What exactly was the excuse for not hiring Marshall long ago?Well, it was never proved.
Probably because of a guy with the last name of Tanner. What exactly was the excuse for not hiring Marshall long ago?
He said something mean to somebodyWhat exactly was the excuse for not hiring Marshall long ago?
If he was available and such a great hire, I don't understand why he hasn't landed somewhere. What exactly was the excuse for not hiring Marshall long ago?
I didn't think there was a chance until last night. If we lose at home to LSU Saturday (or whenever the game is played) we might have an interim coach on Monday. It seems this question is now picking up steam around here. Even from those who mocked it...you know who you are.
because you cant afford to fire Beamer, Maneiri, and Parris all in 1 year. This is Beamers last year with another losing season likely, Maneiri probably struggles to make another year, so Parris should be safe.Wondering how long Donati would wait to pull the plug if the season goes as it's looking. We'll probably enter conference play 9-4 whereas last year we were 10-3. Unless there's some kind of magic transformation like we pulled of '96, it's hard to see anything better than last year's record. Based on the moves with the football team, I don't think Donati is messing around. If we start 0-5 in conference play, which is a distinct possibility, would that do it?
I think the cake is baked for Paris at this point. Again, unless this team does a spectacular transformation when the schedule hits conference play, it's impossible to see Paris surviving 4-14, 2-16 and something comparable in conference play this season. It's just matter of when to do it.
If nothing seems to click in the first few conference games, what's the point in waiting?

I think he is poison now. Probably not fair, but that is the way the coaching world works now.If he was available and such a great hire, I don't understand why he hasn't landed somewhere.
His Powerpoint only had 4 slides - all of him. What exactly was the excuse for not hiring Marshall long ago?
I'd say this is right. Beamer has 2 more years. If youre serious, and not trolling, then that scenario would mean Shane is safe, and the other two get the axe this year.
And I say that only from the financial side.
I previously thought Lamont Paris would be dismissed at the conclusion of this season, I even argued against dismissing him during the season, as what do we gain from that. Then after seeing the score from last night, my perspective changed, and stated Paris should be dismissed today. However, if what was reported by Phil K one evening this week, that Lamont Paris has a $12 million buyout is true, then I do not see Paris being fired anytime soon, unless a big time donor really wants 1/4 zip gone!Wondering how long Donati would wait to pull the plug if the season goes as it's looking. Yeah, no doubt he can coach. At this point, I don’t really care about past mistakes unless it’s something like being complicit with sexual assault. Nothing else fazes me.18,
What do you think of Chris Mack down at Charleston? Things went off the rails at Louisville. He had them ranked number 1 in the nation for awhile. He violated school guidelines while dealing with a former assistant's extortion attempts. That was a mistake on his part that he paid for by losing his job. When things like that happen, people learn from their mistake and don't do it again. It's hard to deny that the guy can coach. At Xavier, he took them to a Final Four once, Elite 8 once, Sweet 16 three times, Round of 32 twice and Round of 64 once (also took Louisville to the Round of 64). He led Charleston to a 24-9 record in his first year there last year. They are 11-6 this season and undefeated in their conference at 4-0. Yes, he made a mistake at Louisville, that he paid for. But the guy can evidently coach. Of course, we probably cannot afford to fire Paris (Thank you Ray, worst AD in our history).
Now that is a telling comment. If he was available and such a great hire, I don't understand why he hasn't landed somewhere.
Of course, everyone, including yourself, hopes you're wrong about Mainieri and that we have a successful season on the diamond. Let's wait and see how the season is looking around the halfway point before making a judgement. If youre serious, and not trolling, then that scenario would mean Shane is safe, and the other two get the axe this year.

Dietzel is the worst, IMO. Maybe RT is #2,18,

I'll play a little bit of devil's advocate / alternate history here. What would have happened had Paris not gotten the extension/raise?I’m afraid with the crazy 4 year extension that Tanner gave Paris for one tourney on top of his 2 years remaining on his contract that we might be stuck. If USC parts ways with Paris at end of the year USC will owe Paris 16 million dollars. Tanner did us no favors.
