both were thought to be the real deal out of high school and then both had knee problems. Does Riek bounce back or does he lose ground.

Im worried that his injury will be a huge problem. Brian never really recovered from that injury his entire career. I think Brian would have had huge success here if that injury didn't nag him the entire time.

Riek has not proven to anybody that he can play college ball. I'll reserve judgement until he shows me different. My hopes are that Rick will redshirt him to allow that injury to completely heal before he steps foot on the (new) court. As we know very well, being that tall does not always mean you will be a good player. I hope Wesley.............. I mean Riek came in with the understanding that he would most likely be red shirted.

but if there was one thing about Johnson, he seemed to really love Mississippi State and I appreciate him for that. I put him and Randy Thomas in the same boat in that regard.

he may very well be Jarvis Varnado times two. His upside potential is off the charts.

I'd certainly take a Brian Johnson that's 5 inches taller. Bad knees or not, how much better could he have been for us if he was 7'2"?

Exaggerate much?

I doubt he comes close to equaling Varnado much less being twice as good.

This guy was being talked about as a possible lottery pick in the draft before his injury. Plus he's got 5 inches in both height and wingspan on Varnado. I'm not predicting he will be better than Varnado, but his upside potential is definitely better.</p>
