You never know when things are going to click for a new coach that's building something and with the buyout it's set in stone that he will get that time . Having said that , this staff has made some blunders and lost in ways that legitimately raise red flags . So I understand the fans complaining , they do have a case . They are taking it too far but have a case nonetheless .

The damage is done. It will get exponentially harder for him to recruit both players and any competent assistants. Gone is the line "You can come be a key part of a great turnaround...."

Stoops is going NOWHERE until end of next season at the earliest. We will never pay an almost $18,000,000 buyout (including the assistants). Let's be realistic.

He's aware that it is on him to turn this thing around. And not only him, but it's on the players as well. Need a few of them to step up and assume leadership roles. Love what Jordan Jones said after the Florida game. Maybe he is one to take on a leadership role. The players need to be held accountable by Stoops and by themselves and if they don't want to be a part of this, get rid of them. Only way to even begin to turn this around is if everyone is in 100%.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and nobody should begrudge anyone that. I choose to support Stoops and support the players...especially the players. They're 18-22 year olds playing a sport for our enjoyment. All this talk about "this player is garbage" and "that player sucks" is not fair and isn't necessary around here.

I liked the Stoops hire when it was made. A hell of a lot of people did. Certainly hasn't turned out how I wanted it to. And it's quite clear that he may not be the man for the job. But it's clear (to me, at least) that he isn't going anywhere any time soon and so I'll support him and this team until a REALISTIC option presents itself.

People that supported BCG were not supporting the players.

IF CMS cannot turn it around this year those players deserve better.

The stuff I am hearing is not good attitude and demeanor wise as of right now.

DAE think with Petrino and UL the media darling at the moment, is adding more pressure? What would happen worst case scenario if UL beats FSU on their big college gameday. Lamar Jackson has a crazy good game. We some how lose to NMSU?

Nope. We are bad enough in year 4 that I don't wanna see how bad we'll be in year 5 under the direction of these inept guys.

There is a difference between "deserve" and "get". Whether he deserves it will be determined over the next 10 games but he will get it regardless. JMO

In theory yes. That is assuming that each year you inch closer to the expectations.

We are two games into year 4 and it appears Stoops has lost the team. If at the end of the year this is a divided locker room resulting in a worse record than last year and players jumping ship, he has to go.

I don't believe that he really deserves it for the full five years, but Stoops Troops will likely be here through next year

Deserve? No

Will get? Yes

Still a lot of season left to see what happens.

I seriously doubt the prospect of replacing Mark Stoops has even crossed MB mind one time.

Five years. LOL. Wouldn't it be nice if all professions paid people millions of dollars for five years of work with almost no expectations in return???

Does he "deserve" a 5th year? No. *Should* he get it? If the program is trending up, absolutely. If the program is digging itself into a deeper hole, no.

Unfortunately, this discussion is mostly irrelevant. Stoops would cost $12 million to buyout. And I guess the total buyout is now being reported at $18 million when you include the rest of the staff.

My goodness.
