Does this sentence read like a fan site reporter?...

There's a very reasonable argument to be made that Ole Miss is only in year 3 of a total (repeat, total) rebuild, and to even be anywhere is a gift and a testament to the work Freeze and his staff is putting in.

It's definitely odd...

So just got through readings all th stories in the CL from Sunday. If you go off how they were written and the tone you would assume we lost and were a sucky team and the Ole Miss blew out Auburn and was #1. This is not a bias thing, it's just the Kellenburg is possibly the least professional reporter I have ever seen in my life. Maybe to is the natural evolution of newspapers, they are going to become fan sites that cover a geograpc region as opposed to being news outlets.

My my only problem with it is that if you are going to go this route and have fan boys writing your articles, then at least do it both ways. Bonner is trying to be a serious reporter keeping a level head and Kellenburg is over there writing fan fiction. I bet the editors are constantly having to remove tons of exclamation points from his copy!!!!!

So when they break in a new QB and various defensive players next year and finish 6-6/7-5, are they in year 1 of a rebuild?

And the following year after they lose Tunsil and Treadwell, year 1 of a rebuild?

Newspapers are dying and are having to play the hits to hang on. Just last week we had the story about who cuts Bo's hair. At this point, I don't think the CL has any more journalistic prestige than Red Cup Rebellion or Maroon and White Nation blogs. As I've said before, if New Orleans can't afford a dailly newspaper, I don't know how Jackson still does.

Doesn't take long to rebuild when you sign nothing but 4 and 5 stars*. I think

the rebuilding job that Mullen has done is quite remarkable where he has actually developed players, there is no denying that fact. I don't think Ole Miss has done near the job Mullen has in that respect.

I've seen some Aubie fans (the morning vent guy) just laying into McCready

on twitter for his homerism. I think its hilarious...he always claims to just be a writer and not a fan, pretty much goes out of his way to convince people of this.

McCready has given a few smart *** responses to a few people, then ignore others. He says he'll be on Face to Face...I mean Head to Head this week so that should be interesting.

I don't know what he wrote Saturday night to get them all riled up.

I'm envisioning images of Baby Hugh Freeze in a manger with Leigh Ann on her knees staring to the heavens thanking God for blessing them with such a gift. Off to the side are 3 wise men, Ross Bjork, Shepard Smith, and Coach Luke...who's prophetic words are eventually recorded by a young scribe name Kellenberger. These words later known as the Book of Luke.

He may as well be on the UM payroll. And yes, the quality of the C-L has taken a nosedive in the last 5 years. I actually think our beat writer is fairly decent.

I just think the rebuild excuse is a total cop out.

"We overachieved because we're still rebuilding."

Oh, how convenient.

I agree. Really when is a college team ever NOT rebuilding on some level? Its not like Nutt left him nothing.

To me, this just seems to be the dynamic, and it reflects in the fanbase. It's the same way on Wyatt/Cross radio show. Wyatt is objective and Cross is a homer. I suspect it's always been this way.

Yep

A lot of those guys on the field were recruited by Nutt. The most important being DK. Without DK they don't get RK, Tunsil, or Treadwell. Possibly even a few others.

To me, it says more about their fan base. Who eats this **** up?

If I wanted to read the dawgsbite BS, I would pay for it. Why do I want to read a writer telling me how great it is to not to awful? I just want hard news out of the CL writers for MSU. Difference is, OM's fan base gets a reassurance and utility from reading that stuff. That is so alien to me.

Wow that's absurd. I guess my definition of a total rebuild and his are totally different. Give me a "total" rebuild any day when you are left with a veteran RB in Scott, players like Evan Ingram, Ja'Mes Logan, Moncrief, and Vincent Sanders. Also do they realize 7 of their top defensive players were already on the team when Freeze got there and Isaac Gross was already committed to Ole Miss before Freeze was hired? Hell Mathers and Walton were also already committed before Freeze was hired.

I'm all about giving credit when it's due but total rebuild is total ********.

Well they will be rebuilding next year at the QB position and I think they will

learn that Bo was a damn good QB for the most part. I'm starting to hear that they may go their usual route and throw their freshmen under the bus by going after Jim Kelly's nephew at EMCC. He got kicked off the team at Clemson for cursing coaches.

They have a damn good team. Kellenberger really doesn't need to be writing fluff stories at this point.

free agency is a quick fix. They are also realizing some of the problems that come along with that free agency. And TOTAL rebuild is a little exaggerated.

Ole Miss was stock piling talent before Freeze got there. At least according to the recruiting rankings. He's done a great job compared to everyone since Cutcliffe.

Was just discussing their QB situation with a UM fan at work this morning. I'll honestly be surprised if Kelly isn't their starting QB next fall. The need a QB and I can't see him getting any better offers.

That Appears to be the Party Line

I've heard Freezus say in front of the cameras that he's amazed that they've done it so fast. I hope people begin to take a closer look on how he did it so fast.

I've got to give Freezus credit for building a perennial 8-4 program.**

That's exactly my point.

Alabama is rebuilding, so that win didn't count.**

A&M is rebuilding, so that win didn't count.**

LSU is rebuilding, and by the time they played them they had gained enough experience.**

Having to start a 5'9" walk-on for 11 of 12 games in year one is a rebuild. Having an NFL OL (Massie) and a couple other could-be-playing-at-Alabama players in year one isn't "undertaking a massive rebuild."

For what it's worth, Massie never played under Hugh Freeze. He declared early for the draft. Pierce Burton and Emmanuel McCray were the starting tackles during Freeze's first year. It's just a slight correction, so don't get the idea that I'm arguing with you.

When's the last time OM had a starting QB that wasn't a transfer? Michael Spurlock?

Honestly don't care if he's a homer. Much worse is that he's just a terrible writer. Don't see how he got hired in the first place.

It's amazing to
Me that no one brings up the high recruiting classes Nutt had. He didn't leave them with as bare a cupboard as the Yancy's would have them believe. Of course they were all pot heads at that point and Freeze had to get rid of a few of the many bad apples that were left. Freeze is still playing with Nutt's recruits.

Anyone remember article about Mullen being in year 3 of a rebuild during his third year? Hell no. We just got articles about Mullen's record versus top 5 (really top 10) teams.

Next year is going to be major downer for Ole Miss fans without Wallace unless Jameis Winston decides to transfer to where he can be around more like minded peers.

You got it. Spurlock was the last QB they signed out of high school to start a game for them. Since him, nothing but JUCO's and transfers.

their business model is to sell papers or online subscriptions in any way possible...or whatever the hell newspapers sell these days. if he has a job and people are talking about him, he is probably doing what he set out to do.

Bo Wallace will be the second coming of Jesus in comparison to Chad Kelly at UM. Kelly was hated at Clemson for being a cocky, selfish, abrasive dick. Hell, he forced Dabo to kick him of the team after cussing the coaching staff during last years spring game for pulling him. Dabo was going to suspend him (again) and Kelly was such a dick in the meeting after the spring game that Dabo kicked him off the team in the middle of the meeting. This left Clemson with Stoudt and a true freshman as QB depth going into the fall. Oh and Kelly also had some not so pleasant run-ins with the Clemson coeds.

Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor though?!!!

Point remains, they had a lot of good players. Dickheads? Definitely. That hasn't really changed though. Freeze is just a lot better at keeping that **** under wraps.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for the tsun qb position, Wonder if he can get himself punched out by one of the frat boys with a sweater tied around his waste and spend a night in the pokey for causing a disturbance after drinking too much by two-a-days next summer.
