Dog walk sucked, the band was all up in the way. There was no way any one could see anything. Why in the world would they do that? Even the band members were saying they didnt know they would be lining up like that.

I noticed everywhere I was in LBS I couldn't escape the smell of a fart. I hope I never have to return there

I checked. Not that.

Section 125 was situated right over the bathrooms. I just attributed it to so many years of Memphis football soaked in to the concrete.

I have to say I'll be the first to admit Rendezvous is a tad bit of a "tourist trap" when it comes to BBQ (a bit overrated if you ask me...) but holy **** the Rendezvous BBQ nachos were the best I've ever had. I loved the dry rub on top of the nachos. Great touch.

Step in ****? Could be human if you walked down the wrong street on the way to the game.

/I really like that you answered honestly and said you checked for some **** britches.

Hey I ate one of those 17'ing Pronto Pups prior to kick off so it was entirely within the Realm of possibility.

Do you currently wear facial hair as a fashion expression? Perhaps an extra dollar or two got you too close to the taint at the local strip establishment? I understand it can sometimes be difficult to wash out.

I may be in

the minority, but I love the Liberty Bowl. It's less than a three hour drive from JX. It's usually easy getting in and out. We play ****** CUSA teams (translates to a win). Its in our fanbase's backyard. I'd much rather be there then Jacksonville or Nashville. Unless we are talking BCS, give me the Liberty Bowl.

I've had plenty of better BBQ than Rendezvous. It's ok, but it's not great. But their nachos hit the spot.

Next season they drop CUSA and add the Big 12. I think the 4th place team.

I'm sorry but I can't imagine Memphis being proud to host an NCAA sanctioned bowl game in that stadium and in that part of town. Give me a bowl game in an NFL stadium any day over Liberty Bowl.

LBS isn't in a rough part of town... maybe not the best part of town, but certainly not the worst. I will say I was extremely impressed with the work they've done to it since the last time we were there. Tearing down all the fairground stuff and putting in the new tailgate areas really did a tremendous amount to make the area functional, fun, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing. Very smart design and layout throughout the area with the grass islands and the light poles with water and power access.

On the stadium itself, I think The stadium is unique... although not the best and not entirely functional, but still unique and has a lot of character.

Also, we drove right up and parked and we were no more than 25 minutes getting to our car after the game and being on the interstate (and we were parked in the back). I was very impressed yesterday and had a blast. The experience was worlds better than 2007.

The stadium is actually pretty nice for it's age. They have done a good job keeping it up. Compare it to the stadiums in Jackson, Little Rock and Bham and it's way better.

Frankly

I couldn't care less what Memphis thinks. Also, the stadium was fine for me. It had a head. It had beer. It had food. It had seats. It had a scoreboard & jumbotron. I'm not sure what more I could need? Like I said, the fact that its in our backyard (big, pro-state crowds) and < 3 hours drive is huge to me. However, I'm not a big fan of being stuck in a car for 9+ hours. To each his own.

Most people from MS are coming into the stadium on Airways or Lamar, which don't make great impressions.
Good to hear that the traffic/crowd flow issues had been improved since 2007, because that was horrible. I know a few people who had such a bad time there, they opted to experience gameday in the comfort of their living room this time around.

Go three blocks on either side of the stadium and you're in 500k-1M dollar homes

South of Southern Ave is bad but the actual neighborhood is not bad.

Getting to the stadium from 78 was like driving through Mogadishu. That whole area should be carpet bombed and just start over from scratch

I realize

you're using this for effect, but I can assure you that nothing stateside is anywhere close to Mogadishu....

Seriously. The Liberty Bowl kicks ***.

The only thing better would be The Liberty Bowl in the dome in Nola.

Which brings me to a common rant: why oh why can't we do whatever it takes to keep Memphis/Nola road trips on our permanent season schedule? Those are 2 downright pleasant road trips that are guaranteed home games.

Agreed, after the old man died the quality went downhill fast. Haven't been there in 5+ years. Memphis BBQ or Germantown Commissary are now my front runners for best BBQ in the area.

It couldn't have been worse than the Oklahoma State game where the emails and MSU pregame party info directed MSU fans to gate X which turned out to be OSU's Cowboy Walk. When the OSU team arrived and State people figured out we were supposed to be somewhere else, our team had already gone into the stadium.

I guarantee you both the stadium and the neighborhoods around LBS >>>>>>>>>>> legion field. I realize it's way past it's prime but legion field sucks. Worst stadium experience I ever had was UAB '12. War memorial isn't much above it.

I don't know that I would have gone to Birmingham had we made it.

Don't use Airways and Lamar. Take the Lamar West exit off 240. Make your first right which I believe is Prescott, it eventually turns into Highland. Follow it to Central and turn left. Stay in the right lane, which is the lane with no sitting traffic, and turn right in Tobey Park. It's about a half mile walk to the stadium, maybe a little more, from there but it's free parking and plenty of space to tailgate. After the game police stop traffic to allow you to get back on Central to go back the way you came.

It's a much nicer area to drive through and a whole lot faster to get in and out. The wife and I left the stadium after the trophy presentation, and were home in Southaven less than 30 minutes later. Once we got in the car there were zero backups at any point.

I had a wonderful time at the game. There was plenty of fun for the kids too. but some how i must have went into the wrong gate because I missed out on getting them maroon Quaker State rags. oh well, my kids picked up a few that were on the ground after the game. Dont worry, I proof checked them from throw up,etc.

I live 5 min from LBS. It's not a bad area. Drive 5 min in any direction and you hit either Million dollar houses, the hood, gypsies, or hipsters.
