Are (almost)all those people over 60 actually receiving SS checks regardless of if they are alive or dead?
...or is this list just a list of people who have recevied SS checks at one time and havent been purged from the system, but arent necessarily receiving checks?
...or is this a list of people who have SS#s and show as 'alive' in some database, even though they may have been dead for decades(centuries!) and it isnt even tied to SS payments?

I mean, there is a HUGE difference between the 3 scenarios above, and any of them could be accurate(or additional scenarios too) based on what little info is released thru a tweet and rumors that mask as news stories.

Like so much over the last 9 years, I struggle to tell where the truth begins and the lies take over. Its due to agendas, a lack of well reported information, social media having no accountability to truth, and a shoot first ask questions later style of discourse by many 'leaders'.

ETA- if this is a list of people actually receiving SS checks, then everyone under 60 is also receiving checks? Of course not, so it cant be a list of everyone who is receiving SS checks. Then what is it actually a list of? Is it really just a list of people who are marked 'alive'? Well ok then, lets clean that up I guess, but why is it a 'huge problem'? Looks like some people who are dead werent reported as dead. Cool- have people work on cleaning up the list...that will require staffing, to be clear.
Still not sure why it is a 'huge problem' that needs to be tweeted about and held up as some example of corruption and wasteful spending.
Hopefully someone smarter than me, so most anyone according to SPS, can explain how much wasteful spending this stops.

Who does Elon think he is ? This will not stand. His unelected a$$ needs to stay out of our social security. He is taking the food straight out of my 143 year old grandma's mouth. I'm not putting up with it. Let's all take to the stre
Right now, some poor 300 year old lady is having her social security cut off, and it's all

Why did she leave?...thats in the tweet.
"...a dispute with DOGE."
"...she refused to provide DOGE staff with access to data they requested."

Why wouldnt she provide them access?...well she hasnt spoken, but presumably she wouldnt provide them access because she doesnt think they are supposed to have access. Seems pretty obvious.

Under age 60, payments are probably spouses or dependents of those who have died, or to those who have become disabled.

There have been countless people who have resigned in the last few weeks that havent been accused of doing anything wrong.
She also hasnt been accused of doing anything wrong. I mean like actually accused by someone with knowledge. Twitter accusing her or anyone else is...well its Twitter.

This is Twitter in a nutshell...and its also a ton of people on SPS.

I'm not on your spectrum politically, but these are good and obvious questions. I do get tired of people throwing out incomplete meme info like this and not caring (or perhaps hoping) that people jump to conclusions.

30 years? She needed to move her *** on anyways to open up some higher-level position for younger employee. I think she was leaving anyways because they were making her as get out of bed and start going to the office. She trying to get here 15 minutes of fame.

You think this list shows people who are receiving SS payments, and everyone under 60 is either a spouse or dependent, or disabled?
Thats absurd.
You really think the US government is sending out 38MILLION checks each cycle to kids who are 0 to 9 years old? Thats like literally every kid in the US in that age range.

Um...ok? This is such a nonsense response as justification. I mean, you just claimed she was going to leave anyways because she is lazy and doesnt want to work, yet you know nothing about her.
Shoot first and dont even ask questions later, apparently.

And is she trying to get her 15 minutes of fame? Has she spoken even? You say she is trying to get fame, yet its crickets from her. Quite the claim from you.

Yes, payments to dead people or incorrect payments need to be addressed.
You linked an article that shows how the process can go- an issue is identified, Congress granted temporary access to view data, and corrections were made.

Surely you see how the example you cite is fundamentally different from the circus that is happening right now.
The article you linked shows that was done during the prior President and prior Congress.
Waste/abuse/fraud need to be looked into and stopped, and that is not some new concept.

Everyone is arguing about whether the numbers are legitimate or not, but nobody seems to have a ******* idea what the numbers actually represent. Amazing.
I would argue the bigger question is why does 40% of the country oppose DOGE uncovering trillions of dollars in fraud with American tax dollars? It’s a simple question. If you pay taxes, you should care where the money is being spent.

Of course you do. You are one of SPS' best impersonators of Stephen A Smith when it comes to political hot takes. You constantly just claim whatever, typically offer up absolutely no real support, and though your claims remain baseless, the board has moved on.
You dont hold yourself accountable, so the process just repeats.

Its SPS and rumors are encouraged.

The same folks who tell us that Elon has no business doing what he's doing were telling us how sure they were Biden was on top of things. So yeah, I'm gonna need y'all to sit out a play or eight and let the guy who managed to mainstream electric cars and space flight take a few snaps.

ETA: People have complained about government inefficiency my entire life and now that we're finally doing something about it, the TDS crowd is up in arms because it's not coming from someone wearing their team's shirt. Get over it. We need this.

It's quite unlikely that he is legitimately uncovering "trillions of dollars in fraud." Obviously we do not oppose rooting out fraud as a concept, we just maintain a healthy and reasonable skepticism about his honesty and competence.

Has DOGE uncovered trillions of dollars in fraud?

I mean, the USAID stuff that some find morally objectionable isnt fraud, so that sort of stuff cant count as fraud.
How much fraud has DOGE uncovered? The US spent 6.75T in '24...but DOGE has uncovered TRILLIONS in fraud? Like multiple Trillion in fraud, when 6.75 was spent?

Fox article mentions $55billion has been saved in costs so far. And again, that isnt fraud, its just saved costs. There is a HUGE difference between fraud and reduced costs.
So 5% of a trillion? Thats awesome to see...but its not all fraud and its not multiple trillions uncovered.

I’m pretty skeptical of this chart. If this represent people receiving benefits - that would be basically every child in America is getting $. That doesn’t reconcile for me.

I could see this being the raw data which is then filtered through numerous checks and confirmations before receiving funds?

Do you understand that by taking the “honesty and competence” position after what we experienced from 2021-2024 is incredibly ironic. And maybe it’s better to say that what you’re saying is complete bs

So Trump was sworn into office 4 weeks ago yesterday. The estimates today is DOGE has slashed around $110billion in wasteful spending. It’s tough to believe when it’s all over we won’t be in the trillions.
