WVU securing their 4 star QB for 22, one that is widely known to be extremely well liked among other recruits, no doubt serving an instrumental piece to the 22 class, but also how he'll leverage his peer likeability to bring additional talent to Morgantown.

Getting a quality QB commit early, no matter if they are well liked or not, usually helps attract more talent, esp skillset positions, to every class. However, one as well liked & influential as Nicco, curious how far he & WVU staff will be able to take this TakeMeHome22..

Like a domino effect, this may result in multiple 4 star WR's, a 4 star RB, and possibly a 4 star LB & DB... Some of these visited the same time as Nicco, and are already heavily targeted by the staff. Talent attracts talent, and if you are a RB, WR, OL, or DB, you want to go where your class has a quality QB, for various reasons.. Momentum a known form of physics & behavior, may finely be applicable to recruiting in Morgantown. Something thats very difficult to accomplish, and we absolutely must give the WVU staff credit for creating the environment to attract these types of players. Many of whom are traveling thousands of miles from home to play for WVU and the staff here..

While improving recruiting is just the first step in building for long term success, Brown & staff has continued to build each class better then the last. While the 22 class is far from being known, it would seem likely that trend will continue.

From the time Brown was hired, Ive said many times in thi forum, improving recruiting is a slow process, a two steps forward 1 step back type of pattern, when you analyze other programs that have "climbed" historically. However, Brown & Staff are accomplishing this without the 1 step back...

Ive also said many times here, when you analyze all the Blue Blood P5 programs, many of which are far better positioned for talent acquisition, a realistic goal for WVU would be to achieve & maintain a 3 year average in the 22-26 range. Meaning if you averaged the past 3 years of class rankings they would be in the 22-26 range. I never imagined Brown would+could recruit this well, so fast. While we are still a few years away from being able to maintain a 3 year average in that range, you can see how it goes from a "Hope" to a very real possibility. That my friends, is cause for excitement. Maintaining a 3 year average of 22-26 range would absolutely give us the base talent needed, when combined with quality coaching, development, culture, & schemes to bring us back to National conversation. Taking us from a competing 1 in 8 years type of program, to a 1 in 3 years type, with a "down" year still producing 8-10 wins, and a "UP" year securing 10+ wins.. Playing 11 P5 opponents will continue to be a major test for us, year in and year out, once the NCAA changes to a 12 team CFP, this could be a major factor in WVU making the dance, even if its a lower seed in the beginning.

If I had one suggestion to the NCAA board would be to enact a new policy that teams must play at least 10 P5 opponents in order to be eligible for the CFP. This helps improve the accuracy of the rankings, due to increased cross conference games, more interesting, more fair, & more profitable. Its truly a win/win/win.. Not something the SEC would like, but the days of top SEC programs practically getting a Bye week in late Nov is not fair to programs who at least have to suit up every week. Our out of conference games, if won, will def help propel us into a top 12 ranking, securing a spot in the CFP. The growth that could occur from that could help the staff continue to climb and possibly exceed previously highlighted talent "ceilings"..

Even if Brown continues to improve talent, it still requires time. These players, while being more talented, still need time to mature, grow, develop, & gain live rep experience, but...... it most certainly is justification for optimism. We still require patience, but the path leading us to competing more consistently for a BIG12 title seems to at least be more clear.

From a talent acquisition perspective, hopefully we begin to see the fruits of this when we begin to play Penn State in 2023 & 2024. That should be enough time for the 2020-2022 classes to gain enough development & experience to impact outcome. Considering we compete with many recruits against PSU, if we win those games, it may continue to raise the floor, helping nurture a compounding effect...

Today was def a step in the right direction, one of many needed to pull us from the depths of obscurity & mediocracy, but def appreciative we have a quality Staff & HC changing our trajectory.

He just won the Rivals 5 Star MVP, beating out many other more highly ranked QBs in the process, he also won Floridas 7vs7 state Championship, which is a big deal in FL, again beating out much higher ranked QB's in the process.... He has been very much under rated, I think because of his size, but hes added weight the past year, esp his lower body..

Becht will be a very good QB, one we will have to battle unfortunately. Word on the street he will soon be upgraded from a ranking perspective, just goes to show you cant allow stars to shape your perspective of a recruits potential. I was high on Becht after I watched his film and his 7vs7 film, his decision making is extremely fast & confident, you can tell he has that "it" factor and has been well coached. Yeah, not sure how much longer Matt C remains in IowaSt... Honestly, I think that is one reason why IowaSt has not been recruiting as well as one would think given the reputation of Matt C. Its probably because many recruits feel there may be a likelihood of him moving on.

The jury is out on Becht, at the time I posted I was a bit nervous.... We had just lost out on Gavin W & Braden Davis, our two primary QB targets... Getting a QB of Nicco's caliber on such a short notice is not very common... Usually QBs are recruited for a couple years... Like Greene, who Brown recruited when he was at Troy..

I still think he is much better then his 5.5 ranking, which is/was my point.. Whether or not hes good enough to be "feared", I doubt... Considering the caliber of QBs in the BIg12 in any given season. Like in most cases, its not just the QB, but who they have around him...

One reason Im hoping we land Omar Cooper, Peter K, & Justin Williams, that would be a fantastic cast of skillset players, as long as our OL commits are on point..

With the players we are also contending on the Defense, even if we land all those players on Offense, this defensive class could be freaking outstanding if we land a healthy % of:

Spells, Bissainthe and/or Lathan, Durant, Mangham, Stokes, Lockett, Steven S, DeAnte Hunter

Talk about a well rounded class with high-end players on both sides & at every level...

Great news today, I think Spells & Lathan are also committing soon too.. So we'll see how our Defensive class will begin shaping up...

Hopefully he is as good as the billing. Hopefully he is not in the transfer portal in the future.

Sensitive are you. Smith had tampering written all over it. Doug Nester finally got smart and figured out the birds smell.

Tykee also a recruit of foldgorsen.

In the past players use to transfer because they weren't getting enough playing time that isn't the case anymore. A good many coach's have pointed this out as has Neal Brown. Go back to the blue lot Little red riding hood.

I see I'm not the only one bored waiting for September 4 season opener against Maryland. It DOES help the time pass oh so slowly through boring baseball season.
You forgot to mention Clarence "Doc" Spears was an All-American guard at Dartmouth in the early twentieth century, played on the Canton Bulldogs with Jim Thorpe, became a College Hall of Fame coach, and, as the legend goes, discovered Bronko Nagurski while driving through the backcountry of Minnesota.

I think we have a good shot at this class having more then 4 four star commits. I think the probability is higher that we secure > 4 then <= 4... A historical rarity for WVU to secure >= 4 in a single class. Justin & Jayden I think are pretty strong WVU leans, so Im looking at it like we pretty much have 3 locked in, so we only need 2 of the remaining list to commit to WVU, for this class to take a historical step forward. We could end up with a top 25 class that does not double count a single player, unlike the class with Geno Smith & Eugene Smith :) The cool thing about that list of recruits, is they are very well balanced on both sides of the ball. It would be a very diverse class with regard to high-end talent..

We could get several of those. Of course, when Rivals "recalibrates" their rankings later this year, several of those kids will have dropped a star as their talent suddenly diminishes the minute they commit to WVU.
