But Obama shouldn't make money after serving the nation for 8 years?
I think he should make all he can and wants.....one of the rewards all Presidents are entitled to. Probably more so for Obama because he was a trailblazer. HOWEVER.....I do think some of it is a little hypocritical based on his comments about some that are now paying up.

He did not divest when you said he did. He sold after the acquisition.

Who's right, you or the A/P? Will you finally answer this question?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry's financial portfolio could grow by hundreds of thousands of dollars from Thursday's $23 billion deal between billionaire Warren Buffett and a Brazilian-owned investment firm to buy out ketchup producer H.J. Heinz Co. 2010 financial disclosure forms show at least $3 million in Heinz stock in family trusts.Kerry said he would recuse himself from decisions involving the Heinz company when appropriate.
Both of us can be right. The AP says he owned X amount in 2010 and COULD make hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not sure why the AP wrote a vague 1 paragraph story.

Here are a few articles about the Kerrys divesting

You're saying that 20-30m is enough?

Obama is the one that said at some point you've made enough money. $20-$30 million, even with two children, seems like a heck of a lot of money to me. I am a capitalist so I say make as much as you can, Obama is a socialist and has a different point of view. And of course Obama will get government benefits for life. Even Elizabeth Warren and Van Jones are criticizing him. But they too are also socialist.

Nice post. I understand the hypocritical angle better when it's combined with honesty.

Question is, how much is enough? What's he worth?

Did Melania divest too? Kerrys money and company will all be lost if he divorces his wife, but yeah, Kerry and Trump, same thing, lol.

How do you know Kerry's money will be lost?
Trump nor his family have broken any laws. To ask him to sell all of his assets is the essence of being overly ridiculous. He is not running his business while he is president. You did not seem to mind the Clinton foundation trolling for dollars in exchange for benefits.

No.....I don't remember the media and far left nuts going ballistic for months on end when Kerry announced what he was going to do. It was simply reported on AND then...... end of story. I think you know better.

For about the eighth time in this thread, Kerry presented a divesting plan that the OGE agreed with. The Trumps have not. Can't we at least expect our elected/appointed leaders (such as many of Trumps appointments) to satisfy the OGE? Or are they just deep state libs against poor Trump?

Trump has presented a plan. OGE is toothless. If Trump disobeys the law, we will find out when the rulings are handed down. If Trump enriches himself at the expense of the state, we will know when the courts have decided. This is not hard to understand.

The OGE rejected his plan. We shouldn't have to hold our highest office to a standard of well at least it's technically legal. What a joke. I think we can hold them to a little higher standard.

I'd want to leave my kids a nice amount. Does he have to pay for his library? I'd want to be able to help support causes, trace, golf, and enjoy my life. 20-30m, if I could make more, nah not enough.

OGE is a joke. Liberal bastion. We are a nation of laws. If he breaks the law, we will find out. Until then, he has complied.

He pays zero for his library. He pays zero for lifetime Secret Service protection. He is the one that said at some point you have made enough. I am a capitalist and don't begrudge him making as much as he can. He is the socialist that made that statement. He is now a hypocrite. Even Warren, Van Jones and Bernie admit it.

You know, I didn't fear Romney's greed as much as Trump. Not sure why. Probably just the Trump wine, Trump steaks, Trump University, and the many lies.

Tell me when he breaks the law and then we can debate. To expect him to divest of all of his assets is ludicrous. And any capitalist would know that. He'd get pennies on the dollar in that kind of fire sale.

I'll be he just loves that 39.6% tax rate skimmed off the top of his earnings.

Wonder if he claims any deductions on that book deal to lessen that tax bite? I know for a devotee of "paying his fare share" he sure as sh*t doesn't volunteer to send in any extra beyond that damn near 40%!

What a guy!

f Trump enriches himself at the expense of the state, we will know when the courts have decided. This is not hard to understand.

Except for Hillary...we're still waiting to hear how they thought all her "enrichment" was ethical.
