It's hard to believe we are still advancing the idea of an internal candidate for OC. The following quote from the State newspaper caught my attention:
Beamer said. “We’re going to get the best guy in here, whether that’s within this staff, or whether that’s from the outside.”
Really ? - after all we have been through with Shula.
Now you can't blame it all on Shula - he was not in charge f the defense when Alabama just drove down the final for a winning touchdown, or when the defense gave up 30 (?) points in the second half against A&M.
But the fact remains Shula did not add value to the offense,
It was a lazy (and devastating) hire at the very time Beamer
had maximum leverage to hire a proven winner; that's on
Beamer, and it showed bad judgment.
So Beamer should not have the last word on hiring the new OC.
