I heard Donnie is doing an extensive cost of living analysis of having 4 million in NYC vs 3 million in Lexington..
Actually this does change things, I punched in the numbers to a take home pay calculator and the difference on the extra million was approximately 180k, then you have to calculate the agents extra commission and then cost of living. Ky wouldn’t have to increase much in order to best that figure. The agent would lose money if he chose Ky

DON‘T KNOW HOW ACCURATE THIS IS BUT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS MORE TO CONSIDER

GPT-mini gives this for NY city
Assuming a $4,000,000 gross income and using the prior estimated combined effective tax rate of 59.5%:
  • Taxes paid: 4,000,000 × 0.595 = $2,380,000
  • Spending money (after taxes): 4,000,000 − 2,380,000 = $1,620,000
So you'd have about $1,620,000 remaining to spend (before accounting for any other deductions, retirement contributions, or itemized expenses).

it gives this for Lexington Ky assuming 3 million
Combined approximate effective tax rate: 34% (federal) + 5% (state) + 0% (local) + 2.7% (FICA) ≈ 41.7%.

Calculations:

  • Total taxes ≈ 3,000,000 × 0.417 = $1,251,000
  • After-tax (spending) money ≈ 3,000,000 − 1,251,000 = $1,749,000
Estimated spending money: about $1,749,000 (rounded).

^ it doesn't take ChatGPT / AI to figure out Lex is lower cost of living than NYC.

Always someone with a snarky comment , I’m sure you knew off the top of your head the difference. The point is people were talking about matching the offer , turns out we don’t have too. Now head back down to your (your Mom’s) basement.

Brother give me that $3M in Lex any day. NYC ain't **** unless you extremely poor and live off the government, or you make over $600k (this is what it broke down to for me last time I looked at it -- number might be higher now). I live OK enough, but I ain't leaving my low key town -- yeah taxes stupid high here as well, but that money goes towards things that benefit me.
Holler dwellers agree with you

I read on another post he’s predicted to St. John’s. If true then it takes a special kind of stupid to end up with less spending money.

I appreciate your posting this. It's certainly should be a relevant factor for a player. But don't forget the agent's percentage is pre-tax. So, that might just color the push the player gets from an agent.
