It’s kind of unfortunate that it got out that he was interviewing. Interview doesn’t mean hired. I have no doubt we’re interviewing multiple guys. Most likely that he wasn't offered the job. Surely there was a discussion on assistant coaches-- who he would bring and/or who he would have to accept. Addison Williams is staying. The next DC will have to accept that. And I don't think NU would want to lose Dvoracek or Phil Simpson either-- maybe for the right hire.
If we are being honest the writing was on the wall when Dayton decommitted. After that I "***-umed" that Dylan was gone. Not quite sure about Donnie tbh but it was definitely in play. After this I'll be completely shocked if Dylan comes back now. Not even sure how I feel about it either. Part of me feel like he was our best QB. But I also feel like we were running an offense that was only gonna win so much the way it was constructed. It was like square piece in a circle. Hopefully with this OL coach the hone in on exactly what they want with the type of qB they want also.I already assumed Dylan was gone before this and this gives him a good cover excuse to bail.
Agreed. Nebraska was Dayton's far and away best offer. But when Rhule visited a couple weeks back, I think all of the cards were laid out on the table at that point. With the likelihood that his uncle and probably his brother were going to be leaving and the fact that he was sandwiched between two better QB recruits. Add it all up and it just wasn't going to be a comfortable situation for Dayton. If we are being honest the writing was on the wall when Dayton decommitted. Holla
Something about the offense doesn’t sit right with me this year.I don’t know if it’s HC meddling with personnel or if it’s the disjointed nature of Satterfield/Glenn Thomas/Holgorsen and that Donny is just caught in the middle of itI’m still NOT going to lay all the blame on Donovan for our struggles. There were in fact factors out of his control that contributed greatly. That said, I think this change is probably good. Time for a fresh start. Garrison would be a home run but I’m not sure he won’t have some of the same issues.
Passing in the red zone (especially fade passes) when the run game was working was just plain dumb.Something about the offense doesn’t sit right with me this year.I don’t know if it’s HC meddling with personnel or if it’s the disjointed nature of Satterfield/Glenn Thomas/Holgorsen and that Donny is just caught in the middle of it
Can you lead me a long a little further as to what was working against Uncle Donny?
I hated the game planning against Minnesota and the last 2 weeks with the backup QB and I don’t think it falls completely at the feet of Dana. Feels like there’s way too many cooks in that offensive kitchen still
I appreciate the info you’ve already provided
It's uncanny, is what it is. I'm done trying to guess why, or what, or by whom. We're just a terrible program at the moment. I'd like to see us get back to winning 9-10 games consistently before I kick the bucket, though.it's all the same long continuous game. that's why it's so hard to change
After watching Bama Ga, T Tech and BYU, and Ind and OSU, its obvious NU is miles away from competing with teams that just continue to try to win. Other than EJ, I doubt NU has one player that could even start for any of those teams, and definitely couldn't start for IND or OSU.It's uncanny, is what it is. I think Dana’s propensity to call 5 pass plays in a row because he thought that was what the defense was giving us was a problem especially against Minnesota. His game plan against Minnesota after the first drive was questionable at best. He gives up on the run too quickly and we simply struggled especially at RT in pass pro. I love some of the stuff I see from Dana otherwise.Something about the offense doesn’t sit right with me this year.I don’t know if it’s HC meddling with personnel or if it’s the disjointed nature of Satterfield/Glenn Thomas/Holgorsen and that Donny is just caught in the middle of it
