the 2012 QB race is going to be awesome this Spring:

Freshman receiver Joe Morrow burned safety Johnthan Banks on a deep route. Morrow played with the young group in the two-minute offense, catching the nice pass from freshman quarterback Dak Prescott, who looked sharp at times but was also sacked (LB Zachary Jackson) and threw an ill-advised pass that was nearly intercepted. All that aside, the backups still scored a touchdown

The second team, led by Prescott, was sacked in the red zone on fourth down but he also tossed a 20-yard touchdown (hard to tell exact yardage from media zone) to tight end Rufus Warren

Dakwas saidto have looked really good for a Freshman and didnt turn the ball over- cant wait to watch him ball next year

I'm glad that we can actually develop QB's like Prescott instead of having to throw them out there as true freshmen like we've had to do in the past sometimes.

Or even worse, we would do what we did to Omarr Conner and shuttle him between WR and QB.

Don't read too much into the fact that he was running with the 2nd team since this was a split squad practice.

I'm just not surprised he is making plays- he is a player- and why I'm looking forward to 2012's Spring Practices

Prescott will have some ground to make up on the other two because they'll have more experience, but I'm looking forward to seeing him play. I think it's going to be a real good battle at QB to see who can take the starting jobor if two wind up splittingsnaps. Whatever happens, I think we're going to be just fine at QB in 2012.

a 2 QB sytem with Dak playing the Freshman Tebow role seems to be the thinking- but no telling what can happen between now and then...Dak is going to be too good and run it too well to be kept off the field very long.

I remember being at last years Big Dawg camp and just wondering where in the world this kid came from. He made every pass and was just physically impressive. I could see us having a 2 QB system next year with Russell as the starter and Dak as the change of pace ala Florida '06. Dak looks like he been in a college wait room for a couple years, he is a specimen no doubt.

Lets just say we have come a hell of a long way from the days of Conner,Evans,Henig, Rutland, and Carroll. I certainly can't ever remember having this much potential at the quarterback position.

One is a pure passer, and then one is a change of pace type of guy that can run. And again, it will give Dak time to develop.

None of this splitting series, one plays one half and the other guy plays the second half stuff.

Russell gets to focus on what he does best and doesnt have to worry about any option stuff...Prescott gets to get experience, use his legs at first and his arm more and more as he gets game experience against SEC secondarys

There is going to be a day when a really good Sr QB graduates, and a So or Jr steps in to replace him without missing a beat. That's how a program goes from good to great - reloading at QB instead of rebuilding.

OK, yeah I get it- he's a Favre. But the fact remains if Dak can take care of the ball better, and still make the plays without the turnovers, he will start.

I don't like his uncle at all, and truthfully, I highly doubt I would like him on a personal level if I ever met him. But the kid can 17ing play. And that's really all that matters.

that he makes risky plays that sometimes turn into turnovers like his uncle. Some of our fans will excuse that because of his last name. Fortunately, I know Dan won't let that slide.

I wasn't talking about people liking him because of his last name, although a lot of MSU fans do seem infatuated with Brett for whatever reason- hence the next "real deal" QB being annointed the "next Brett Favre" by the general MSU fanbase.

He may be able to play, but I still don't think he will beat out Tyler or Dak.
