Don't count Favre out in the 2012 QB picture just yet.

He was 13-14 this afternoon in 11-on-11 drills, including 4-4 and a TD in a 50-second drill from his own 45-yard line.

I am not holding my breath with Favre. I honestly don't see what everybody's fascination with the guy is. Russell is heir apparent to this team.

in a scrimmage last year. It wouldn't suprise me if it WAS against the first team. He can PLAY football. The only knock against him is his height. Same as Drew Breeze.

From all accounts, they are neck and neck, and if Favre truly outplays Russell, Dan would give him the reigns, despite the height.

There is just no way thosestats he put up in high schoolare a fluke. And I like what I've heard about his competitive nature. Even if it's in a mop up role I'd like to see Mullen give him an open playbook. At this point I'm more excited about Favre than Russell.</p>

What has Russell done to earn automatic heir to the throne? I honestly don't expect him to ever take the reins because he does not fit the style we play. We really are not a drop back passing team (although we can in a pinch). Favre is a good scrambler and he is shifty. Really Dak is the QB of the future for our style of play. We will see how he develops in practice over the next year.

I'm still scared of the man's height. Favre has the moxy. I'm sure he does. To borrow a quote from "The Lord of The Rings," "It's not the strength of his heart I doubt, just the reach of his arm." Or something like that. The Tiny Turnover Machine ruined me on short QBs.

Slight difference here. Drew Brees never lost a HS game. He was a HS All-American and 5A offensive player of the year in Texas. Brees had D1 offers from well known offensive gurus Joe Tiller and Hal Mumme despite coming off a torn ACL. Brees was a college All American. He then went on to prove it in the NFL.

Saying Favre is a good college player, with the only knock being height is silly premature. It's no different than our fans saying Korvic Neat is a great player like Dexter with the only knock being that they both are small.

Favre may eventually prove it on the field, but I don't see it happening without some injuries. IMO Dak is your future if he develops enough in the passing game. His game fits your offense too well to go in any other direction.

It's August. We're undefeated, and most of us are going to openly cheer for the development of all four of our QBs. But please, continue to rebuke us for saying our state PotY recruit "can PLAY football".

Speaking of silly premature:

It's way too early to say. Dak has the size, mobility and arm strength, but he he'll be way behind both Favre and Russell in experience when they fight it out for the 2012 QB. job. And it's not like Russell and Favre are chopped liver. They're the two Parade All-Americans we have at that position.

Do you feel the need to comment on every thread? Honestly, I don't think many people here really care what you think.
You make bruiser seem rational.

The fascination with Favre is that he has this 'it' factor about him. Everyone knows he can throw the ball but he has to have something to overcome the fact that he isnt very tall. He does have that. It' is this cocky nature about him and it does catch on to other players. It's pretty easy to see other players step it up when he's in the game.

Now, does that fit perfectly with Mullen's offense? I dont know. Certainly not better than Relf's size and ability to run. But to think that Russell has this in the bag means you just havnt paid attention.

# 2 qb on our team is about as solid as jello. However this is Russells year to step in and prove to be a great backup. If he doesnt, Farvre will take that spot from him.
