How noble of you to tell me what my best interest are, you arrogant prick. As far as I can tell, Bevin is the only governor in a generation that cared enough about teachers to try to save their pension systems. The last 7 or so governors were perfectly willing to watch the retirement system bankrupt the state, as long as it didn't cost them votes.
I am not arrogant but you can recognize a prick I suppose. You obviously did not get much of an education if you think the governor controls everything in the budget. It should be obvious that Bevin has no love for teachers. He did support funding for teachers but it was mostly due to the states bonding position. Beshear and Fletcher did not get the needed funding due to a Republican led senate and it's head David Williams. We just disagree.
Once again you refuse to look honesty at your "tyranny of the majority" view of how things should be. You refuse to answer the Prop 8 question I asked you because you would expose your hypocrisy.

You make a totally subjective opinion with no basis in fact. Just because you view it as being "outdated" that has no bearing on it at all. I do not view it as being outdated so my opinion cancels out your opinion. The reality is that the CONSTITUTION says it is the correct way to select the POTUS. Are you an anarchist?
Are you a bot?

I am a teacher and I fully recognize Bevin's that Bevin is trying to save my pension and am thankful that he's doing it. I know that I'm not alone among teachers, but I'm certainly in the minority.

As for why more teachers aren't like me, well, that's seems to be a mixed bag. Some teachers are simply misinformed, others are beholden to their union and won't listen to reason. Most I've met, though, are simply in denial. When I point out to them that their retirement is in real danger of bankruptcy within their lifetime they usually say back to me, "But I was promised a full pension!" Correct. You were promised a pension by democrats that are long gone. They lied to you. They all lied to you. Now, you finally have someone telling you the truth, but it's a truth you don't want to hear. Classic cognitive dissonance.

Well said. I know two teachers that are well informed like you, and when they speak to other teachers, the teachers keep reiterating what the teachers union is telling them. That's the problem with unions, they have become so political they care more about politics than workers best interest. Sad

am not upset. We just don't agree and youHIYI

I am not upset. I just do not agree with you. I am sure it happens to you all the time. Move on.

Who said anything about being upset? I simply note for the record that you are being a hypocrite. You call for 1 man 1 vote majority wins on the POTUS election because of California's large numbers....

yet when you reflect on the fact that California's 1 man 1 vote majority voted for single sex marriage with Prop 8....you no longer support your own rule. In that case....it was a tyranny of the majority....and the minority vote should have counted.

That is hypocrisy and I understand why you do not want to look in that mirror. MoveOn.org.

Look, quarter-wit. I have no problem with California voting for same sex marriage. I have no problem with majority votes for Common Sense gun laws. I have no problem with majority votes period. Now, are you happy. I didn't realize the name you use on this board is your actual name.

Who is the arbiter of Common Sense? What about no sense gun laws?

What about a majority vote to legalize slavery? Are you as firm as you want us to believe as to 51% wins votes?

I see you just can't help yourself.
If lawmakers can't make a decision then often times a measure comes before the public for a vote. I guess you think the majority should lose. I think that is some special kind of stupid. This started as a disagreement on the electoral college. You have veered off into bizarre world. I really am here for basketball. You notice no one else is commenting because they think we are both crazy.

This thread was moved to the Paddock a day ago. It was moved from basketball because guys like you derailed it.

We are and have been...because of you....discussing California. They have provision in their state constitution for Propositions to be placed on the ballot...thus Prop 8. That has nothing to do with lawmakers not making a decision. It is simply based on having the sheer numbers to put a Proposition on the ballot. I am fine and dandy with the majority winning or losing based on the actual LAW or the constitution. SO...again I ask you, if the majority votes in Prop 1845 to legalize slavery...you call it a special kind of stupid for that measure to lose. Your words not mine.
