They had a hell of a team in the late 70s and early 80s, but those days are long gone.</p>

Lost to a turrble Marshall team, and suddenly appointed themselves as the best football program in the 'Sip. I have no qualms with saying we would be undefeated with their schedule. With The buzzards loss to UAB they can slither back to Irrelevant Swamp where they belong.</p>

Claiming that a major Division 1 college football program is scared to play anybody is just childish. So you seem to believe what all the lowly Southern Miss fans are telling you about why we don't play them? You actually are dumb enough to believe that?<div>
</div><div>All the USM smack is because they think they are something that they are not. And most of us who have a sane head on our shoulders are tired of hearing all their ******** about why we don't play them. I never pull for those cocksuckers. It's to our benefit to keep them as the third best football program in our small state. If we let them rise up then they will be a threat in recruiting to us and Ole Miss. We don't need another school to compete with us.</div><div>
</div><div>Your comment makes me think you are just as dumb as most of those Southern Miss dope smokers.</div>

I agree we lost to a bad UAB team and a average at best marshall team. Maybe you would, maybe you wouldn't but I love the game of IF'S that State and Om are famous for.

I can take it. We sucked it up. Got the big head whatever the hell you want to call it but No, we never were good enough to play in a Sugar Bowl but what should we do apologize for winning and the BCS rules? Hell no! Now we will just see where it plays out from here. Good luck to the Dogs Saturday!

I didn't realize there was a rift between the fanbases until the internet. Goes to show you that just because a few people on a message board think it doesn't make it true.

How say? Because we had fun in winning? I went to the games back then and they were fun win or lose. Yeah there was some intensity but hell that is what makes it fun. You win some you lose some. It is freakin college sports! It SHOULD be a bout competition and fun but it should never be about wanting eternal bad for each other.

on the road. Yes, the score was 21-3, but we were going through a QB change. We did whatever we wanted to in the second half on offense, and we did whatever we wanted to on defense the entire game. So, there is no "maybe" with UAB.

The only other common opponent we had was La Tech, and again we beat them with our back-up QB only because our starter was hurt.

We would beat Marshall-I have no doubt about that. I also have no doubt we would beat everyone else on your schedule. Navy is trending down- they are a 6-6 team at best this year. Virginia is not very good as well. The only teams we would struggle with are maybe Navy only because they run an unconventional offense and would try to do to us what they did to South Carolina, and maybe Houston because Keenum is legit.

What a lot of Ole Miss and USM fans fail to realize is that all of our losses were to ranked teams except for maybe Auburn. And even when we have lost, we have been competitive with them and had a chance to win each of those games. Our worst loss was to Auburn on the road- hardly anything to be ashamed of. If USM plays Alabama or LSU at home, they get blown out. South Carolina would beat you by two TD's. I do think USM would beat Ole Miss, though, and I think you will beat Memphis.

Now, you can say "Oh yeah, well when are you going to beat one of those top ten teams, neyah." And the answer is when we get the talent to do so- that's not this year. We are not a top ten team. But we are a very good team, and better than USM.

It's funny that you bring up an "If" game, when all I've heard is what you could do "if" State and OM would play you, "if" you were in the SEC, "if" you had the funding, the stadiums, etc. So, ultimately, your accusing our fanbase of something that yours is famously guilty of. Excuses. We raised $37million in private athletics donations last year. How about you? I'd bet you could go $$ per alum(to be fair), and you still wouldn't be 25% of where we are. Why is that? Cue the "more with less" excuse. A culture of excuses from a bunch of people that don't even bother to put their money where their mouth is. That's why we don't currently take you seriously and won't until you undergo a culture change. Sure, we know you exist. Sure, you probably could have beat us 5-6 times in the past decade. That's beside the point. Building a program is more than a win/loss record. Your excuses are a big reason why you'll be 1 of only 4 of the 12 founding members of your conference still aboard next season, along with Tulane, Memphis, and UAB. The other 8 used it as a stepping stone to build something significant and moved on to bigger and better things...while your still making excuses about why you got stuck there in the first place. Don't like your history? Rewrite it...

because they are a lower level program....and ...unlike USM fans....understand their place.....

Have fun with that "winning in the CUSA" thingy... Buh Bye now.
