but it's inexcusable in year 3 to not have a single guy on that roster that can consistently hit a shot outside of 5 ft. That **** is crazy. It appears that Fred Thomas is our #1 option from beyond the arc and it that is true, it's gonna be another craptastic season.

If you're gonna create a thread ripping our team, you should at least know what you're talking about. We haven't shot well tonight, but Fred Thomas is hitting .500 (7 of 14) from 3's this year

Hell, it shouldn't be that far fetched

Mullen is in year 6 and still doesn't haveva kicker who can make a FG outside of 30 yards

we are 31st in field goal %.....admittedly, this has nothing to do with the OP, but i thought i would plant that seed just for the hell of it.

This has to be the most negative bunch of fans ever… This young team is 4-0 and this is what gets posted. How about how they look better on defense, play with hustle, and seem to have offensive sets. They missed some shots tonight but hit their free throws and rebounded. The game was only close because Ray is playing 10 players quality minutes. I agree that an additional shooter is needed, but Dunlap has looked good early and has knocked down some 3's. Let's see how this team develops before ripping them.

As critical as I've been of Ray since the end of last year, I agree with you. We beat a Utah State team that doesn't suck, and the SEC isn't a good league. Let's see how this year plays out.

Never said he is the answer. But now isn't the time to bury him. Let's support him and see how it plays out.

Ray's last 3 commits are all very good and he's in the game for malik Newman. We're 4-0 with a decent OOC win. Why you hold your nuts on ray, I'll never understand. Give the guy a chance

Auburn scored 35 points tonight. Total, for the whole game. A Basketball game.

Bruce must have had to recruit from the student section.

So they scored over 100 for the first time in 11 years and followed it up with 35?

Did they score the most they have in 11 years and then follow up with their lowest in 11?

I watched a little bit of the game yesterday and against Utah State and thought the defense looked better. The defense has been the most disappointing thing to me so far about the Ray era. Play better defense, and you win some of those close losses.

Fred appears ....

If you're gonna create a thread ripping our team, you should at least know what you're talking about. We haven't shot well tonight, but Fred Thomas is hitting .500 (7 of 14) from 3's this year

to be the ONLY real 3 Pt threat on the team and he was 0 for 2 last night. MSU missed every 3 they attempt, finishing 0 for 7. The main point of the OP was that ... this team is not shooting the 3 well at this point in the season.

Fred is leading the team, 7 of 16 (44%), and he is hitting 3's at a higher percentage than 2's (40 % v 44%)

While its still early in the season, the 'newcomers" are not shooting the 3 very well ... Daniels, 2 of 9, 22% ... Houston, 1 of 5, 20% ... Dunlap 2 of 8, 25%

Experienced guards haven't stepped up either ... Bloodman is 0 of 3 (0%) on the year, and Ready (in his first game back) was 0 of 4 (0%) Sword is a better at penetration than the shooting the long ball.

BUT, there has been a ton of improvement in other areas. Both Johnson (64%) and Ware (64%) are both shooting better and Ndoye (86%) can score and has a good shot. Team has been aggressive rebounding on both ends. Free Throw shooting shows improvement early.

BOTTOM LINE ... Scrappy team that does show improvement; plays extremely well in stretches; can lapse into street ball; newcomers will help with depth but need improvement in shot selection; team will need to stay close ... can't rely on the 3 to bail them out if they get behind much.

Well, I'm not sure as to exactly what you were expecting this year, but most prognostications didn't go much further than saying that we might be in the running for an NIT bid this season which isn't expecting a whole lot.

That said, while I've been on record many times as being in the "you've gotten what you asked for" crowd as it relates to MSU basketball, I will say that I've already seen enough from the squad this year to feel that we're FINALLY improving. I thought that an NIT bid would be a pipe dream before the season started, but I now think that we'll at least be in the discussion and that we may truly be a year or two away from being a pretty good team. Recruiting, which is now on the right track, will be key
