They're young, but they have some good young pitching. When they mature in a year or two, I think they'll be very good. Greinke has a great shot at winning the Cy Young this year. Then they have Hochevar and Brian Bannister, who are both very good but young, Gil Meche a veteran who is pretty good, and Kyle Davies who is young and could be a pretty good back of the rotation guy. They also have Soria, who is one of the better closers in the game.
Then they have some good young players who are somewhat under the radar- Alex Gordon has been hurt, and he's probably their best player. Billy Butler, David DeJesus, Mike Jacobs, Mark Teahen are all pretty solid players and are young. Willie Bloomquist is one of my favorite players in all of baseball, and a lot of people don't realize how good he is. Coco Crisp is a decent CF/leadoff guy. I'm not a big Jose Guillen fan, but he will hit you at least 20 home runs.
I think if they could get another big time guy to go with Gordon and then a really solid SS, they could be a contender.
I also like Trey Hillman, their manager. He's going to be around for a long time.
