Ya'll shouldn't be worried that much about our team this year. We've seen what they CAN do (Vandy, Ark, UGA). LSU gets calls all the time and everyone knows it. That is why they are hated by most SEC fans in baseball. When is the last time we won a series AT Alex Box? We lost the series last year to LSU and we weren't even close to first place in the league. I believe I saw where we are still tied for 2nd or 3rd after tonight. We still played for the title last year after the series loss to LSU. There is no reason to jump ship yet.
I know our offense struggled but did you really expect to go on the road to LSU and win against Nola? How many of you actually truly expected to win this series? I did, but I knew it would be tough. We will be just fine. I still see us going to a Super.
Now whether we win that Super or not is another story. I agree that there has to be some batting changes. Despite what any of you say, Britton HAS to be on the field at 3rd base. Unless we have another player with a rocket arm from 3rd to 1st, He is our man. Detz couldn't get the throw over there in time once and barely got the out the other times. Britton has no problem doing that. Sure, he can't hit but neither can anyone else.
My problem with the game tonight was our lack of baseball smarts. We are down by 2 runs with less than 2 outs with 2 runners on and we swing at the FIRST pitch and pop it up...TWICE! Detz should have been pinch ran for when he got walked late in the game.
I will say what no one else wants to say...Ross cost us the game. I know it wasn't necessarily his fault but that error cost us. I have never seen that happen to him before and it probably won't again but if he turns two right there, we are out of the inning with the lead and probably would've kept it.
Cohen needs to send a tape of the calls that midget ump made tonight. I know we have our share of bad umps for our home games but that was just awful. I have never seen an ump make such blatantly bad calls as consistently as this guy tonight. Remember his name for later on down the road.
Overall, we will still sniff 45-50 wins and still have a regional host. Go to sleep and you'll feel better in the morning. I will say that We absolutely have to win tomorrow. USM on Tues. is a huge trap game, and Ya'll better hope like hell we win the OM series if not sweep them. If we lose the OM series, then you can jump ship.
