What is everyone's opinion of college having a preseason game like the NFL. After watching 2 horrible games on ESPN last night, I would like to see some games that allow teams to play in a real game atmosphere and get all the horrible execution out of the way. Revenue would be a plus as well (tickets, food, etc....although it would not be a lot). Maybe even play some teams at a neutral location to allow some people who can't come to regular season games to see a game or two.

Seems like instead of having one or two cupcakes on the schedule. Most teams have two or three. I know the FCS games are not always the first game(pre season) but the point remains. But having 12 games is better than 11 regardless of the opponent.

lower Division teams to come in during the Spring. We could play Belhaven or Millsaps or MC or even step up to Delta State.

Any added game will quickly become a paid-for showcase of TV ratings anyway. That's how you get the Boise State - Oregon, Auburn - USC, etc type matchups so early in the season.

Any added game should be a 1st round playoff IMO.

NFL pre-season sucks ***. Strap it on and play the games.
the game wouldn't be for entertainment, more of a way to get games like last night out of the way and come into the season ready for action.

that's how he treated La Tech. I think he even called it a preseason game one time, but I've tried to block that game out of my memory.

That said, I think it would be cool if college football had a jamboree like the high schools do. I know if there was one in Starkville with some teams like Delta State, Jackson State, and someone like a Arkansas State (random example), I would go to it.

this ever happening. I don't really have a preference either way. I do however, think we should play a game the caliber that we're playing tomorrow for the first game instead of opening with an Oregon, which we've done or an LSU, which we've done, etc.

Tomorrow SHOULD be as close to a preseason game as we'll ever come.

I always wanted to see JUCO football affiliated with Universities. For example Hinds CC is connected with Miss State. All Miss State guys who do not qualify to get in would go to Hinds CC. Every SEC school have a JUCO team with their scholarship on that roster. It could be called JUCOSEC or some other dumb name and they only play the JUCO in that conference. Just a thought.

For years Ricks College was a red shirt school for BYU. It was a church owned Junior College in Idaho and their football team was always ranked in the top 5. Now they are a four year school call BYU Idaho and do not have a football team.

I could see an MSU vs. some lower school friendly match in spring happening if the NCAA allowed it. Agree on some sort of handicap such as spotting the lower team points, requiring MSU more yards for a 1st down, changing the value of TDs and FGs, etc. Also implement the usual type of exhibition rules (no blitzing, no fake punts, etc.) Sure it would not be as interesting as a real game, but seeing as its not a real game I don't want anyone getting hurt. I'd hate to see a player end his career for an April win over Millsaps.

So it is not unheard of. However, I think just giving the coaches more time to practice might work just as well.

so I'm sure he would have loved one exhibition game to start off with. Maybe due to all those years in the NFL he had no clue how to get a team prepared without having multiple preseason games.
