I just read on starkville daily news that a cigarette that was thrown out landed in the flower bed and ignited the pine straw. that person feels like a jackass.....
I can't believe this hasn't been talked about more- it's crazy that four entire apartment buildings burned to the ground. I found out that even some people who were in surrounding building that didn't burn, lost almost everything from smoke and water damage.
I haven't been out there in a long time, but aren't all of the buildings basically on little grass islands in a giant parking lot? Apparently the wind was strong enough to cause the fire to be able to jump across the parking lot to the next building. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
that it spread in the 'typical' way a fire spreads or jumps from one place to another... hot air rises, carrying with it embers and ash which are hot enough to ignite something they land on when the get caught by the wind and blown a short distance. Sucks for all involved.
Or at least it was here in Tupelo so I assume it was about the same there. Fire can spread surprisingly quick with a little wind behind it. I don't know which buildings caught on fire, but some are fairly close so I could easily see a group of 2 or 3 catching on fire even if there wasn't much wind.</p>
Seriously, lawdawg is right. Unless you're OK with paying to replace everything you have, and I mean everything, you need renters insurance. And it's not expensive at all.
......"in case some .... happens." Nevermind you barely got money for .... that is happening. You need to save that money to pay the man "in case some .... happens" to your $100 worth of crap you toted up to Starkville in your car.
