5th in scoring offense- 31.7/game
6th in total offense- 417/game
2nd in 3rd down conversions- 50.6

4th in scoring defense- 17.5/game
6th in total defense- 328/game

and dont give me the "we are only halfway through the schedule" or "we havent played this team or that team yet" crap- nobody was saying that after the Auburn and LSU losses when trying to make their points to me

I would think that we would be higher with your QB only completing 50% of his passes. TR had 40yds on 3 rushes but he is slowwwwww.

I don't know if you give more credit to the coaching staff, Vick Ballard for getting some tough yards, or the OL actually moving people off the ball when they have to... But keeping drives alive is an underappreciated stat that makes a difference in wins and losses.

Ralph is completing 59.3% of his passes this season

And I'll concede that Russell can run a little once he gets 40 yards against an SEC defense

As I was telling somebody during the Houston game, 3rd down isn't as traumatic as it used to be. Even on 3rd and long, I like our chances to complete a long pass for a 1st down. In the Croom years, 3rd and long meant I was already dreading what McShank was going to do to us on his punt.

And now the bad.....being this good on 3rd down with "only" a 4-2 record says we've got some serious shortcomings in other areas, namely interceptions and Croom-tastic kickoff coverage.

So, if TR's 40 was because we were playing some low class from CUSA then Ralph's numbers should have been triple. By that line of thinking, he had an off day?

TR had a much better day getting his mop-up snaps than he did against Alcorn...be patient and let him continue to get experience and grow as a QB...after Ralph graduates, Russell will have the job to himself his Jr and Sr seasons unless Mullen is able to pull in some bigtime dual-threat QB recruit- and I dont see that happening.

Russell has a chance to be a solid QB before he is done.

We are only halfway through, but Auburn and LSU are top-notch teams. ****, we're 4-2.We could be 6-3 in afew weeks. Remember the Croom offensive numbers? I love seeing offense over 30 points per game. Coach, you seem to be accurate so far in that prediction.

Nowcoach, youthought Relf might get 1000 on the ground. Isaid more like 600. Where do you see that headed? I still don't see him getting it.

and I said 800...dont turn into Paindonthurt on me...I said I thought a 1,000 was possible...I didnt guarantee 30 TD's either, just said I thought it was possible

We are running our offense a little differently than I thought we would- not much, but a little. We have definitely thrown it more to this point than I thought we would. Ralph has in effect sat out an entire game between the 2nd half's of LSU and Houston, not to mention him not running the ball vs Alcorn. I think the 600 mark is going to be about right- good call on your part.

Scoring-wise, we have to score 200 the rest of the way to maintain 30 ppg...I feel like we can get 110 of that between UAB, Kentucky, and Mississippi, but that leaves 90 points between Bama, Fla, Arkansas, and the bowl game. That may be a tall order come bowl time. We have missed out on alot of points vs Houston, Alcorn, and such. Hell, we are 2-6 on FG's

We'll see how it turns out

of the mentality of the team that can only be produced by a passionate coaching staff... headed by #1..Mullen..

that was a hell of a 2nd effort by Perkins and I have not seen it mentioned so far and I think it needs to be acknowledged...

I think we have thrown it more than most expected. I think that is forseveral reasons:

1. We need work on it. Portions of Memphis, Houston, and Alcorn became glorified scrimmages. Work on your weak areas. You never know when you need the passing game to be a difference maker.

2. Keep Relf and running backs healthy. Don't wear them out. I think Mullen has protected Relf some to ensure he makes it through 12 weeks. Mullen wants to keep the redshirt on Dylan Favre and doesn't want to go with Russell full time.

3. Recruiting. Tobias Singleton, Joe Morrow, etc. want to see us sling it around a little bit. He'll show Tobias Singleton the numbers that Bumphis is putting up.

4. Preparation. Make opponents spend adequate time preparing for our pass.

Our bread and butter is on the ground with Relf, Perkins, and Ballard (love this guy). We are too error prone (drops and sacks) and turnover prone (interceptions) when we put it in the air.

and some of you wonder why I continue to enjoy
drawing out the dumbasses? No need to bet, I've saved this thread- that
will be enough come November

Relf goes for 27-30 on the season
We average 30 a game

Those 2 things will happen barring injury to Relf....

And when it does, i'm sure DS will tell us all what your new username will be, cause this one will be a memory
