Fast-paced, back-and-forth action in Carmichael as the TV timeout arrives three minutes late in the second quarter. Tar Heels shooting 1-for-8 from three and are 7-for-15 on layups this half, but trail only 30-24 with 1:57 left in the first half.

UNC has seven steals, but eight turnovers itself, including a charge call that wipes away Elina Aarnisalo's basket and brings a much needed break to this frantic pace.

We shot 67% from 3 vs UVA, 13% so far today

7 of 15 on layups.

but the stat to watch is turnovers. Both teams have 8. First team to 20 loses.

UNC trails 31-29 at the half. Not the worst position to be in considering its shooting numbers of 2-for-9 (22.2%) from three and 13-for-33 (39.4%) from the field.

Indya Nivar leads North Carolina with eight points, five rebounds and four steals, while Toby Fournier has nine points on 4-of-5 shooting for Duke.

Don't shoot wild shots on penetration. Pass the ball out to open 3pt shooters.

Guard the dookies closer especially Toby and Jackson.

I think we are better than this crowd. We just need to make our shots and value the ball.

Let's go Tar Heel WBB !

I’m sure Kara will say it was because they didn’t play any defense and weren’t close enough to commit any fouls 🙄

Nyla Harris had a large knee brace on her right leg and was stretching intently at midcourt while UNC goes through its layup lines before the second half begins.

She has since taken it off and joins the Tar Heels in the huddle.

Just the shear # of boneheaded plays we make drives me crazy. I just can't understand our propensity to continuously try to drive the ball thru 2 and 3 defenders only to turn it over and turn down open shots for turnover or worst shots. Aarnisalo is great example of a player that turns down open shots ALL the time for turnovers and worst shots and I'm not taking anything aways from the good things she does because I want her to shoot more than she does. As far as driving between multiple defenders a great example of that would be ALL of our guards.

Threes falling for UNC now. Back-to-back triples by Lanie Grant and Ciera Toomey to open the second half for UNC and the Tar Heels take a 35-31 lead.

The Tar Heels have already doubled their 3-point total from the first half, knocking down four threes on nine shots in the first 5:30 min of the 3rd quarter.

UNC has its largest lead of the game, 44-38 with 4:33 left in the 3rd.

When the game gets into the latter stages and if we are ahead, the question will be how do we handle the pressure that Dook will ramp up

Elina Aarnisalo AGAIN drills a shot at the buzzer to end the 3rd quarter. She sends a Duke player flying with a pump fake before drilling a 3-pointer from the top of the key. She's up to 15 points and was a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc in the 3rd quarter.
