Double OT loss to LSU killed this team.

I really think that loss messed the rest of our season. I think with as young of a team we had that killed all the momentum we had built up.

...an "I don't give a **** anymore" attitude killed this team.

Basketball is not like football where you have a week to stew over missed opportunities.

In basketball, you roll with the punches, nut it up & keep playing.

Unless you are this year's Miss. State team, then you just quit.

We have had the same gameplan all year. It works like a charm when we can't miss a shot, but when we aren't hitting anything it's going to come down to late game decisions and execution. The 2nd half of the conference, we have been terrible at both.

I don't see how we didn't lose by 30 to LSU. We couldn't buy a shot and the refs were letting their main man have his way with us. And, we lost by 2 in double OT.

that MSU has so many teams that quit? Not just basketball, I'm talking all sports.

(Sorry for the hijack)

some of these guys don't have a clue what goes on with a team...
when the air is gone out of a balloon , it is simply gone..which affects attitudes and effort.

Maybe because they always feel they can get away with quitting, & the coach will go along with it.

That's just a guess.

Having said that, can you see a State baseball team quitting on Cohen?

Me either.

And as much as we have bashed Polk, the only team he had that quit was his last one, but that's somewhat understandable when your pitching staff goes down, the guys that have given you the opportunity to play at MSU are telling you to transfer if they don't hire the hitting coach, you hear that the guy that probably is going to be hired next is going to yell and cuss at you all the time and then burn your house down because yuo get caught looking at a third strike, and you have this going on for over 10 weeks.

Heck, the Diamond Girls weren't sure if they were safe.

I will say that the football team seems to be the main culprit as far as quitting.

Let's see:

1) Jackie's football teams quit on him his last 3 years (some quit worse than others, but thank goodness I've forgotten all that).

2) I don't agree about Polk. He had more than last year's team quit on him (aGAIN, my mind has mercifully blanked all that out).

3) And now Stansbury has a team quitting on him.

Here's what we know now:

1) We have no idea if Mullen will allow a team to quit on him (so, for now, put an asterisk by Mullen).

2) We know good & damn well Cohen will not tolerate a squad quitting on him (+1 Cohen).

3) Stansbury is currently tolerating a team quitting on him.

So, as you can see, Miss. State is making incremental improvement in this area.

Since we are dog fans, we pay close attention to our own troubles. But I think loser mentalities are way more common than winning mentalities. When it comes to basketball, I think all schools have the same problem with high-school "stars" and bad attitudes. I think the Tim Tebows of the world are the great exception.
