Some in game posters will never learn. Here some advice. Stay off the board until the game is over. No normal person is making dumb claims until the game is over.

having witnessed the Maryland game last year in person, I have learned not to over commit on comments
till there is absolutely no chance of winning....
This goes back for years including the dumbest posters on the planet who called the game over, wanted Nova benched during the Temple game at the Linc.
Literally none of your arguments discredit the fact that it's an absolutely stupid way to coach in the 3rd quarter down 25 points. You won't find ANY top coach doing it.
I still 100% stand by this, and I'd say it even after a big win. It's bad strategy against arguably one of the worst pass defenses in all of football. Flood got lucky that Indiana absolutely imploded. 3 huge turnovers in 3 possessions - sorry, but I credit our kids playing their hearts out and not giving up.
But, you can all continue to live in a bubble, sipping the Flood kool-aid... we'll see where you all are after the next 3 weeks against OSU, WIS and MI.
I root for the kids and the program - not stupid coaching. And while our talent (which we certainly have) will get us over the hump of beating bad teams... coaching decisions like this will never allow us to beat the good teams.
When you NEVER mix it up on 1st down, you can overpower a crappy team (because we have superior talent)... but it puts us at an enormous disadvantage statistically against good defenses because they know what we do on 1st down EVERY play.

If the play resulted in a 30 yard run and TD or big play HCKF would be a genius. The whole world expects pass and we run....same as 3rd and a foot pass plays for TDs..no decent team always does the obvious. That said you have to pick your spot like on a fake punt.
Honestly, wtf are you talking about? You need to mix in runs no matter what the score otherwise you let the defense dial it up on pass d and you become one dimensional. This has nothing to do with flood. This is football 101. Martin went off in the 4th too. Do you not remember that? Silly thing to complain about when we came back from down 25. We attempted 42 passes. How many more did you want?
Clueless, when a defense is anticipating pass sometimes you can pop off a huge run.
Which brings me to another point. We have game threads for a reason. Any new thread whose sole intent is to b**** about something like one single play call during a game should be immediately deleted or merged into the game thread, with exceptions like major injuries.
You are right on this but man its fun to call these guys out after the game and then watch them bump their own dumb threads.

I am a big fan of throwing on first down..... In previous games I thought it would help Laviano get into a groove if the other team expected
run, run pass etc....
Here, Flood did not panic....he stayed the course and it worked out.... without going to the videotape we had several key running plays
that continued drives......

run kept the defense honest.
Exactly. Have to keep the defense honest, and any of those runs were threats to be big gains. Some of our posters have no concept of play calling or are just contrarians.
Think you need to rethink this. If we NEVER mix it up on first down, then what do you call the pass play that started the game. I haven't done a count, but there are a fair amount of times where we pass on first down. Yet you say never - yeesh. And when you come back from 25 down, you simply have to give credit to the play calling. Picking on a single play without giving credit to the entire body of evidence is ridiculous.
Well put. When will fans learn to step away from their keyboard? Then again, check out the thread about the Grand Rapids television station that went on air and reported that Michigan won, with fans "spilling out of the stadium" in jubilation--I'm still laughing!
You know passing every down isn't a great strategy right? You do understand that coaches call plays to set up other plays and generally have a strategy other than just giving up on some downs by running up the middle. In fact some of those runs up the middle are intended to just wear down the strength of the defense - yards are a bonus and are expected in later attempts.
You must be real easy to beat at Madden.
