NBA Commissioner funneling them $ too. Don't forget his "Dark $" contribution. Nosferatu looking MF'er.

Grant Hill having a front row seat was the 2nd best part to knowing Coach K and "Mickey" were there to see this. Hope Ladyboy Ken Jeong was there too. Put his azz back in the trunk and leave him in the Desert.

Seth Davis will be in tears. Pure tears. He's not going to know what to say/do.

Jay Williams admittedly is in tears.

Jay Bilas will want an extra review process to officiate the late game pressing strategies and fouling "we need our game to eliminate". LOL

Dick Vitale may go to Cameron Indoor with the Mascot Costume on to console them.

Carlos Boozer and his Twins will be happy-they hate Flagg and they can be the "saviors" next year.

Silver will be so pissed off he may have the Celtics win the Lottery to land Flagg.
💯 💯 💯

I can't wait to rewatch it all either. I had long since turned the game off and was just checking on the score online here and there. They were up 14 with like 9 minutes to go. Thought for sure it was over then. Then still up 9 with like 3 minutes to go after Flagg hit a 3. Thought for sure it was over then. Then saw Houston cut it to 1 in the final minute and had to run back downstairs and get the TV back on and watch the ending live. Turned it on right as Proctor missed the front end of the 1 and 1.
I’m pretty sure 9 minutes is when we started our comeback on them also.

Unreal coaching job by Sampson
Not fouling down by 6 threw Duke off
They kept making 2's and inching closet
that was great coaching. if you hang you’re hat on defense an have enough time to play it out, then you do. they just needed that one three to put the game pressure on duke. they got it, and from there wouldn’t let them scor.

Bumping this thread just because :

#1 - I haven't posted in it yet

and

#2 This self titled thread here, upon our little board, titled : " Down goes goes dUKe "
...... this is a beautiful thing to see how it happened. I am only too happy to bump this one as well as all subsequent "down goes dUKe " threads in the future

The devil don't deserve no tears, BBN knows that.

Go Big Blue !

ps - Malachi Moreno is going to be goooood like, purnell good. I think this team is going to be top 10, maybe top 5 heading into next season.

We shall see *

* - Trust in Coach Pope ;)

Freshman equals collapse. As great as Flagg and others are/were, you cannot count on them in tight games. Yes score a lot of points but in crunch time mistakes. At least this time they called Flagg for over the back whereas the refs refused to upset Saint K when Zion went over the back.

I mean Proctor gagged as much as anyone and he's a JR who we were told was the greatest prospect since the sport began when he committed at the Nike Hoop Summit--same weekend as Mgbako committed to them. Meanwhile....Proctor is still at Duke 3 yrs later and has sucked in every big game moment for them in their elimination losses. They've had him on/off the ball-doesn't matter he'll find a way to make it about him and piss down his leg.

I will never understand why in late game situations Kon Kneuppel only touched the ball for Duke to pass to Flagg. He's their best player in terms of playing off two feet in the paint-he's an elite FT shooter and has IQ to make a play (shot/pass) that I'd trust.

This was the first game in a loss that I saw Flagg get a shot off. He was terrible in those situations all year and Duke kept running "Get it to Cooper and DO 'EM" plays. Scheyer never learned from early season basketball. The arrogance of Duke fans to think they'd copy UConn's runs of the past 2 Tournaments because.....it was their turn I guess.

Biggest takeaway coming from this loss and season--WTF are people smoking comparing this year's Duke team to the greatest CBB Teams of all time? They were talented/good but this team wasn't special elite.

What will hurt them is Flagg not winning the National Championship. He was a perfect Duke idol.

As for the teams they've had far better miss not winning and I still say '22 was the best Duke team since '15 to not win a Title and we all owe Caleb Love a Thank You for that one.

For those who want to consider NY/NJ area "neutral" for Duke-you obviously don't understand their Subway Alums. So since end of year--their games in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Newark were pro Duke-they go to San Antonio and repeat history with the early season losses in Chicago and Vegas.
Absolutely ... Ralph Truth Daltonfan

Sportscenter yesterday morning ran a bogus segment comparing Flagg to ‘melo Anthony and asked the question, if Duke wins the title is CF the best freshmen player of all time? Didn’t make one mention of Anthony Davis and 2012 Kentucky.
Of course not. They don’t want anyone to remember that,

…and all of college basketball thanks you.

This has to rank in the Top 3 of Epic Duke double-digit second half Tournament Collapses.

My ranking:

3. 2002. Playing a 5-seed Indiana in the Sweet 16 in Rupp Arena, Duke is up 17 inside 12 minutes-and pretty much falls apart. IU is up 4 with 4 seconds to go when Jay Williams hits a 3- and is fouled. A free throw sends it to OT, but he misses. Duke gets the offensive rebound, and misses a put back that would have won it. Given the way the tourney plays out, this likely costs Duke a title.

1. (Tie) Last night. Up 14 with 8.01 to go, and 9 with 2:07 to go, Duke loses to Houston in the Final Four. Strong likelihood this costs Duke a title.

1. (Tie) 1998. St. Petersburg. Duke is up 17 with 9:17 to go. Kentucky storms back to revenge 1992. Cats win championship. This loss possibly costs Duke that title.

Am I missing any Duke historic losses? I know they were a heavy favorite over UConn one year and lost but that was a closer game throughout.

It certainly looked like one of his teams.
That’s what I said, Scheyer reminds me of Cal, assembles teams that shouldn’t lose and chokes down the stretch more than he should. He’s not quite as bad yet losing to teams he shouldn’t very often but in big games the last 10 minutes looked remarkably similar.

Scheyer is not a very good coach. He's ok at best. Remember, they only got an Elite 8 last year cause Houston was without their best olayer.

Rip Hamilton year in 1999 they should have won but UCONN controlled most of that game.

That's because about 1 of every 3 are from ****ing Duke that cover CBB.
The silence from Grant Hill and crew was golden at the sudden end to that game.

I would like to know how many times that crew screamed DUUUUUUKKKKE, and COOOOOOOPER FLAGGGGGG, and KONNNNNNNN K-NIPPPPPPPLE during that broadcast.
It was insufferable to anyone that is not a Duke fan.
