When do we expect DPE back and when do you think we will see him at 100% if ever after that injury. Just curious. Good kid and I just hope we can see him back soon and healthy.

ACL tears usually take between 8-12 months to fully recover depending on the individual. As a football player I believe it will be closer to the 12 month time frame before he is fully comfortable to cut and take shots to the knee again. If that is the case we are looking at having him back for half the season and who knows how effective he will be when coming back. It is sometimes harder to overcome the psychological side of the injury than the actual physical side of it.

Would also rather see him redshirt. He has the year available, and for "quick twitch" guy like him, it's a disservice to him if he's out there at 85%. It's gonna be a while for him to get all the way back to where he is comfortable and aggressive cutting on that knee.

I trust the coaches and DPE to know when he is ready. Just hope it's soon, because he is a game changer

If he's not absolutely 100% JD Spielman will beat him out as the punt returner, been watching him for 3 years up hear in MN and the kid is electric, just amazing how elusive and hard to tackle he is playing against the best competition in the state, reminds me of Darren Sproles. So if not 100% use the RS.

Anymore, it is usually much closer to 6-8 months if there are no complications. I have seen many kids cleared for participation at 6 months anymore - including soccer and basketball players who do a lot of cutting. Mental part will be a factor, but there is a lot he can do toward building the strength back in his legs leading up to the time he is ready to go full speed on the football field. He will not be out of shape when his knee is cleared. I would be surprised not to see him cleared to play by end of August (9 months)- although I don't know if the fracture impacted the timing with which he could start rehabbing the knee and every person is different and he could be one who takes longer for the replaced ligament to strengthen sufficiently. My point is there is I think better than 50/50 that he is ready to go early next season based solely on averages.

I think he will be pretty healthy by fall camp. 10 months of rehab is quite awhile. I wish he would have redshirted last year and not played at all in 2015. I just want him playing at 100% at some point.

Wasn't it more than just an ACL tear? Didn't he also break a bone in his leg too? If so, that could extend his recovery time.

Anybody remember Dan Alexander tearing his ACL in spring ball and being back by fall camp? That dude was a machine.

I was friends with Dan Alexander. He was a freak of nature who has never tasted an ounce of soda, kool aid, or alcohol since the day he was born. Willie Miller and Dan lived next to Tommie Frazier for a couple of years. Dan, the nicest man in the World, really disliked Tommie because of the way he treated random people. Dan, who talked like the whitest black man I ever met, had a best friend from Back home in Wentzville. His best friend is white. He talks and acts like a black man. I always laughed hysterically at their strange dynamic.

People always wondered why Dan fumbled so much. I argue it was due to his biceps. They were natural btw... It wasn't like he could just stop lifting. He was a natural freak of nature. Anyway, Dan's biceps were so massive that the football protruded away from his arms at a sharper angle. IMO, the size of his muscles gave defenders an easier shot at popping the ball free. Dan was also in his own little World outside of football. He loved video games, church, and his Alaskan Decathlete girlfriend. I remember asking him about what he thought of Eric Crouch, a redshirting freshmen in 1997. He looked at me with a puzzled look and said, "Never heard of him."

How is his poise? DPE looked comfortable day one catching the ball.

Really good, nothing seem to bother him sometimes looks like he's toying with the guys he's playing against because he makes it look so easy get thru holes and accelerates with the best of them.

High praise. That gets me excited, but DPE was pretty damn good...

Yeah, people didn't make a ton of noise about Spielman and Grimm, but they sound like a couple of kids who can flat-out play.

Spielman is an absolute stud. Playing at the highest level, made it look like he was playing flag football.

MR just said today DPE was at about 80% and feels good mentally about coming back from his injury.
