That question has been answered and it is a resounding yes. Johnson's Georgia tech squad has averaged 6.3 yards per rushing play and 6.5 yards per play in their first 3 games, including 5.7 yppl against good defensive teams Boston College and Virginia Tech. The Yellow Jackets suffered their first loss of the season last week at Virginia Tech, but they lost just 17-20 despite being -3 in turnovers and clearly out played the Hokies (6.7 yppl to 4.1 yppl). Georgia Tech's defense has been very good too, allowing just 3.7 yppl for the season and 3.7 yppl to BC and Virginia Tech combined, and that unit should have no trouble defending a bad Mississippi State offense that has managed to average just 4.4 yppl in 3 games despite facing one bad defensive team (La Tech) and one horrible defensive team (SE Louisiana). The Bulldogs only averaged 5.2 yppl against those two bad teams before gaining 117 yards at 2.2 yppl against Auburn last week. Miss State has a good defense, but it hasn't been better than Georgia Tech's defense and there is a huge difference in the quality of the offenses of these two teams. Georgia Tech looks like the right side here.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
