Pretty funny.

Put me down for "Who cares?" Sir Big Spur has only been at games since 2006, loooong after I started following the team, so it's not much of a tradition with me.

That homemade looking thing they got 'em ridining around in looks like trash...surely we can do better. Obviously, this is low on the list of concerns.

I didn’t know the back story; I figured it was run by the University. I’ve actually commented in a game thread before about how goofy and cheap it was for the University to have that PVC thing.

the gamecock in the logo itself has the comb and wattle still attached, on that principal alone we should keep the rooster intact.

Is the debate over if he should be fried, grilled, or barbecued when he is retired?

I think calling something that has only been going on since 2006 a "tradition" is something of a stretch.

Yep. I didn't know he was only a thing as recent as 2006, but I knew he wasn't around when I first started following the team.

Let's do total makeover and make the rooster our own and rename him W.B. Cocky and be done with it.
Or, as Kornblut mentioned on his show yesterday, name him Dr. Pecker and see if we can get away with it.

Actually the College of Engineering students built and donated that to Ron and Mary when Hyman refused to do anything for them.

If only they had someone in the College of Engineering who knew how to weld, that perch could've been world class!

Nothing wrong with PVC. I made a pool platform for my dog with PVC, noodles and zip ties. Cost me $29 vs $179 to buy one.

Seriously though, it’s embarrassing UGA has AC and we have PVC.

UGa also fully sponsors UGA. USC does not fully sponsor Sir Big Spur. The University is quite late to the game in embracing Sir Big Spur, and properly funding him.

The students raised the money on their own for the supplies to build it. Maybe if the University hadn't been so against actually recognizing SBS as an official mascot, it would have been better funded and better made.

Y'all need to remember that the University didn't fund/sponsor SBS for many years. It's only been recently that the University has actually started embracing SBS as a mascot, and deemed him worthy of any funding, even if minimal.

Their combs help keep them cool and SC is extremely hot during the summer. If they are going to have that rooster out there before, during and after a game they are going to need all the help cooling off that they can get.

Especially these days if most of our home games are going to be at 12:00.........

Don't like names The State listed, except maybe Coop if fgf related. How about Thomas Sumter? Force ESPN to have history lesson on broadcasts.

It matters! If the rooster is not cut properly it's a Rooster not a Gamecock! A game chicken has a different lLook and Attitude 1661530112153.png

Ruffled Feathers - might conjure an image of aggression

Or thinking of the center of campus when I attended:

Ruffled House Feathers

Okay - I'll see my way out.
