Dooley's deal fell though Monday night due to loss of players ,Payne was never really consider due to dislike from the cigar boys. Drew's deal centers around who he can bring in as coaches andterm of contract.

You don't know what you are talking about. Dooley did not turn us down... we didn't interview him. All we did with him is gather some info from reliable basketball people. Payne was never in the running.<div>

</div><div>All coaches' contracts talk about assistants and terms of the deal.</div>

If the guy has no intentions on staying in Starkville more than a couple of years (i.e. using us as his opp. for HC experience) , I could see an assistant saying no. I'm sure he's pretty comfortable as being the top assistant at Kansas.

an assistant coach would turn down an SEC gig, because a SR enrolled in the draft early and/or because Sidney left

The Dooley thing never got to money it was the three that now are gone and I am sick of listening about Payne he never was even called ,sorry Coach 34. But we have a good one in Drew, this will work out fine and we might be surpised how next year turns out.

Groce then chose Illinois over us and we moved on...we regrouped and this is now the choice. Not a bad run thru the hiring process for us.

I liked some of the possibilities Payne could bring- but I have nothing against this choice. Former NBA player, son of a coach...the dagger in the Bears is just a perk

I'm satisfied and look forward to seeing what goes on

The 2 truly hot candidates saw the jobs that were open and decided to wait around for a home run job. The next best candidate went to Illinois and we got the next one after that, excluding the wild card of USC hiring Frank Martin. I didn't expect that, but it doesn't shock me either. I'm more than OK with this hire. It's got a chance to be a very, very good hire for us.

But your guarantees are often all over the place, and change daily. Then when something comes along that you havn't even been in the discussion of, it's later due to a mysterious double secret source that won't let you comment on a message board for some silly reason.

this is the guy that said Varnado got his tuition paid by an alum. Then when he got called on it, hecrawfished and said that he wasn't allowed to say his source.Remember hindsight is 20/20. Whypeople put stock in his predictions is beyond me. Do you really think that anyone that knows that type of inside knowledgewould reveal it to someone that spouts off on a message board like Coach34?

when it appeared Drew was the guy, you knew it but didn't post it b/c you "weren't allowed to say".<div>
</div><div>But then at 9:31 pm last night, when it was clear that Drew WASN'T the guy, you didn't post it b/c you "didn't hear he was".</div><div>
