Well at least the well behaved part of the student body can sleep at night now..
Thank goodness all of these dangerous criminals are being dealt with. Marijuana makes you turn into a crazy person that has no control over their actions. You become sex crazed and suddenly have super human strength. You have the sudden urge to get behind the wheel of a car and speed through crosswalks. Not to mention the hallucinations and chance of permanent psychosis. Some people even start to kick puppy's and infants....
Seriously what a waste of money. I'd like to see how many of these "criminals" and "drug dealers" have previous arrests. The day this **** is a thing of the past is coming.

I applaud the police. It's against the law and has proven negative social and health effects. I know there are supporters who point to research supporting it's medicinal use. Pretty sure these folks weren't sick.
Speed on the highway - run the risk of a ticket. Smoke weed - run the risk of getting arrested. Can't do the time? Don't do the crime.

Marijuana causes long term memory loss. I have older siblings who were major potheads as teenagers, and now that they're in their 50's they have the cognizance of a 75 year old.
BTW, I grew up despising marijuana and what it did to people. As a teenager and young man, I was one of those guys who'd go "Coach34" on a guy who lit up in front of me. However, after seeing my other brother die painfully and incoherently of brain cancer, I could see the possible uses of THC, if for nothing else than pain and nausea relief.

Exactly. The concept is pretty simple
Whether someone agrees with the law or not is moot. Hell, I think I should be able to kill as many bucks and turkeys on the land my family has owned for generations. I also know that killing more than the limit and getting caught will have consequences. So I decide not to do it. Simple.

We agree on "if you break the law don't be upset if you get caught" 100%...
I just don't agree with it being illegal.
We could sit here and debate the negative effects of it all day. Same as we could the negative effects of smoking, drinking and eating foods that make you obese.

Only issue I have with your stance is you put the blame on the marijuana laws, not on the people. If the law is good/bad is not the point, these folks knew going in there was a risk, they chose to take the risk and lost.
Their lives were not ruined by a dumb law, their lives were ruined by a dumb choice to break a law.

BS. We have no business regulating what people put in their bodies. I don't like pot and usually find people that do it annoying, but it's still immoral for to be arresting people for it.
The choice we agree on. The law we don't. And that's fine, it's an issue a lot of people disagree on obviously. There is no debate that these kids broke the law. I just don't think it poses any more of a risk than some of the legal vices. Couple that with the fact it does have some medical benefit and states are currently proving it can be efficiently and effectively legalized, regulated and taxed.
Personal side note: this isn't a stance on just this being illegal. I think a lot of our personal freedoms and choices are infringed on more than what they should be.

Laws are Laws...and it says allot that 27 states or so have some type of pro-weed laws now. The only reason this stuff is illegal is because somewhere the big boys are making more money than if it was taxed. It also keeps the war on drugs going which is useless. New York just changed their law saying that if you have I think under 25 grams of weed its only a $100 ticket and no jail.
Also if someone suffers from addiction putting them in jail does nothing at all to cure the disease of addiction. Its a disease...but if you break the law you break the law.

Agree completely fish. We are throwing huge amounts of money trying to fight a battle we can never win. At the same time, we're making people criminals who are no danger to society and supporting orgainzed crime. The war on marijuana is the Prohibition of the late 20th and early 21st Centuries.
If a marijuana arrest only hurt you as bad long-term as a speeding ticket, you would have a point. But clearly the punishment doea not fit the essentially harmless crime.
I support the "On The Dole" approach. If you are self sufficient you can do what you want with obvious exceptions. But if you are living on unemployment, welfare, etc taxpayers have the right to not send their money to you to be wasted. Drug tests for those. Incentivize personal freedom and self sufficiency.
