There is a reason the kindle app let's you adjust the page color.

My dear wife can tell you all the shades of white - eggshell, pearl, etc. Most men don't know all of those. However, there is a reason for the origin of the term "I read it in black and white". Black and white, whatever the shade, just makes for easier reading for mature eyes.
