I'll take a guy that misses an assignment here and there to get the only back we have that gives 100% every play.

This is SEC football. You are not going to have a big hole to run thru that much. If Dixon would look for the hole and hit hard he would have 100 yard games week end and week out. Given we don't have much of an offensive line but they are big enough to seal off Defensive lineman just long enough to get Dixon thru the hole if he would use look up and use his eyes while running. He is has all the ability but he does not utilize it well. With that said I would take Ducre. He is big and has a little more break away speed. Dixon has more ability but Ducre uses what he has better.

One other thing we need is another offensive line coach! I have notice that more and more defensive ends are 240 to 250 pounds where the enterior defensive line men are 295. What I would do is have 260 pound offensive tackles with speed and the 300 pound guys at guard and center. You don't have to drive your guys off the line you only have to get between them and the ball carrier for just a second or two.

But hell I am not a coach so what do I know? Nothing!

If I had to choose, I'd go with Ducree. He plays hard more consistently.

I think a. he has to dance b/c of the blocking most times and b. his dancing gets us more yards than it loses.

I think Ducre is just a downhill back.

I take Dixon all day. I think next year he will finally get it and it won't be close then.

Now if Ducre ran it like he did at Kentucky last year every week it may be close but he doesn't.

I disagree that they are both very average. I would say they are above average. A lot of it has to do with the 8-9 man fronts we see every week because we are not a threat to throw the ball in any capacity. Not to mention a sub par O-line and JV play calling.

i can't agree with that. sometimes, his dancing does yield extra yards. but i think if he'd lower his head and take 2 extra yards more often, instead of dancing and hoping to gain 5 or more, it would help our offense keep moving in the right direction, giving us more manageable third down situations, instead of 3rd and longs. when is the last time he danced and then busted one over 10 yards?

if i had to take one, i think i'd go ducre. he runs hard every play.

He runs harder and seems to give 100% at all times. I think Dixon is Croom's boy though. I'd put Ducre in short yradage and goal line situations every time also. Dixon dances more often than not and seems lazy at times. When he gets a jolt, he runs great, but that only happens for a couple of minutes during an entire game.

With both of them, I think their lack of breakaway speed and pure elusiveness leads to the fans calling these guys "power backs". However, I think they both are a little short on the actual power they demonstrate to be top power backs.

I'd call them both 'tweeners. They have some of everything you'd want in a back, but neither have all of what you'd want in a back. The closest "all" trait would be Ducre's effort on every play -- which is a huge trait to have.

I go with Ducre for that consistency. Then, I'd place huge pressure on Dixon to come every week with the goal of getting his starting gig back.

and he sees what there is to get and gets it. He doesn't do the "Dontae dance" that Dixon has got into the habit of.

Remember that one drive against LSU before halftime to cut the score to 17-10, Dixon looked really good. Ran hard and physical- I was thinking where has this guy been.

Only a few times has Dixon really ran well the whole game.

than trusting his OL to have the hole opened when he's only 1/2 yards away. This results in AD rarely hitting any hole with any speed... turning a 5/6 yard gain into a 2-4 yard gain.

AD tends to receive the hand-off (on a run inside the tackles), take 2 steps, then start to stutter step (losing most of his momentum). Maybe it's just me, but he seems to do this more often that CD.

Ducre..

I was at tha Vandy game. I sit in the upper deck, east side. From that level, you could see the holes (what few there were) open up in the line. Dixon would miss the hole almost every time.

Ducre in my opinion has more vision to see the holes when they do open up. It appears that Dixon runs with his head down and has his mind made up when he gets the ball where he is going to run with it.

Ducre is the best we have. He runs downhill, has good vision and gives 100%. Dixon has shades of it from time to time, but Ducre has it every snap he plays.

I like Ducre tons more than Dixon. But I have a question, do you think WM puts Dixon in everytime he wants run our now Famous "Tiptoe for Two" play. I never see Ducre do that crap or run that play.

Me thinks WM made that play up.

"What play we runnin' coach?" ask Tyson Lee. "Bring in Dixon and run play #1 (Tiptoe for Two)" WM responds.
