Batavia over GBN: Batavia's march to 9-0 is smooth this week
WWS over StE: I'm terribly conflicted on this game in that StE has been winners the last few years, but WWS has only allowed 3 points (yes, not against great comp, but still impressive). As a Bears fan, I will lean on the team with the defense
StN over Geneva: Chuck North getting the easy W
WN over LP: I want to go with LP in that this is essentially do or die for their playoff hopes, but WN just seems to have their ducks in a row a bit better than LP right now.

Batavia- to much offense for the Panthers

WWS- the new defensive coordinator is doing great work, I believe they have a few wrinkles for StE and they win.

StN- Geneva plays hard but lack the talent to beat StN

WN- a loss here and either team has no shot at the playoffs.

WWS....tough one here. I'm banking on WWS' defense and kicker.

Got to get my picks in today as that damn thing called work and business travel could make me miss my Clown Cup submissions if I don’t get them done today!

Also on Side note - will their be TWO winners of the Clown Cup? The poster that picks the most correct games and the poster with the best percentage correct? I can see some sneaky posters being “busy” on the weeks with real tough games to pick!!

Commissioner Clown - a ruling please?;)

Ok onto my picks:

Batavia wins comfortably over an improving GBN team

WWS - ok I know the transitive property is not a good indicator of accurate prognosticaton, but I’m using it anyway. GBN managed 86 total yards of offense vs Neuqua, they were then shut out by Warren (two good teams by the way) and yet they managed to nearly pull off the upset over STE. I can’t tell anything about STE from their first two games, I can only dig into the GBN game and do the transitive thing.

On the flip side, I can’t obtain any kind of read on WWS at all as Metea, Lockport, and Geneva are a collective 0-9. But I do know it is damn tough to shut out an opponent no matter who that opponent is, and I know they have a damn good kicker which means they can score inside the 30 and he makes their Defense a ton tougher with field position. So... I go with WWS in the GOTW in the Dukane.

STN -
LP will be my undoing and the reason I don’t win the Clown Cup. When I pick them to win, they crap the bed, when I pick them to lose, they look like a state semi finalist team. I’m going with Chuck North - they played Bolingbrook tough and I think they the second best team in the Dukane so no reason to flip flop now! STN by 14 points.

WN -
quietly, oh so quietly, WN will be sneaking up on some teams as the season rolls on. Held a tough team to only 17 points. Once the offense gets some sea legs,.. they could be the team that no one wants to see in weeks 7 and 8 and 9. WN wins easily and the offense gorges and feasts at the touchdown table this week.

Winning percentage with a minimum of 7 out of 9 weeks played, tie breaker will be total wins.

Some will be eliminated due to lack of participation this week.

Batavia (not rooting for them though after cocky comments on FNL)
WWS (too much D)
StN (No one is losing to Geneva this year)
LP (will be a baseball score probably 9 to 6 LP)
Gotta shut em up. I found the comments interesting considering they didn't even win conference last year.

Thanks. That was interesting. I think some of the comments were borderline between cocky and confident. Nothing disrespectful though. I’m okay with it. They earned bragging rights as last year’s champs and I respect their history of success. That said, I’d be lying if I told you I don’t have that game circled on the calendar. Every team in the Dukane is looking to beat them and that goes with the territory of being that successful.

Wide ranging group of comments. Every kid had a different take on things that’s for sure! Not sure I would be proclaiming we gonna win state - but got to love the confidence!

Hey Batavia - if your Conference slate gets too dull and boring - I know 5 schools that would love to see you move into their Conference rolling forward in the future! There is always a place for a top tier program like yours in the DVC is my guess!!

Would be nice to see some more non conference games in the future between Dukane and DVC. Only 4 games total in 2018 between 13 different teams seems light.

Totally agree!

The one thing I really disliked about the old Upstate 8 River and Valley divisions is that there was so few crossover games. I would really like to see the st Charles schools, Geneva and Batavia more often.

I have got to go to Vegas! A 9 and 0 week when you include my 5 for 5 picks in the ESCC thread? Yeah baby I’m on a roll!!

Just got back home after watching my Saints lose 27-14 to WWS at their place. Started out a very close game. I believe saints had a 7-3 lead at the end of the first qtr but that WWS defense stiffened up and their offense got going with some nice trickery on a fake reverse td pass to retake the lead for good. That defense is as tough as advertised. Really took the saints out of their game plan and forced them to throw which is not a strength for STCE.

Side note, That WWS kicker is quite impressive. Booted all but one kick off out of the back of the end zone. Punted us back behind our 20 yd line and hit 2 of 3 FG. The one miss looked like a bad hold. He’s money.

Nice job by WWS. They were the better team last night and earned a well deserved win.

I have got to take a screen shot of this!!

Voodoo in sole possession of first place for the Dukane Clown Cup? The key - do I have the stamina and depth to continue to pick at an elite level to complete the season? We will see!!
