"Duke welcomes boxer Floyd Mayweather, who has history of violence against women"
Outstanding journalism at work again with this headline.
If you check dukes social media, they sure weren’t shy about showing that he was there and our players and coaches were stoked to be seen with him.
Can't argue against any news outlet for trying to sell papers. I mean its not like its "fake news." OFC
Right. But bad journalism is still bad journalism....no matter who is trying to sell it.
Besides, the old print rags are losing. There's a reason they're dying off around the country. The biggest reason is probably the constant technology battle, but integrity is another.

Where did the Duke welcomes him surface? If he paid for his ticket he's like any other person to come in and see the game. It makes it sound like the Duke team welcomed him. I'm sure there have been lots of questionable characters that have attended Duke games. To me this is just a petty act by some anti - Duke fans looking for something. Ridiculas. OFC
We're not going to have any butts in those seats if we start screening out people that have made mistakes. When he starts punching people in the stands then we'll have a problem.
OFC
Dirt I suppose its makes a difference if you have a loved one or friend, etc who was the victim of such senseless and cowardly behavior.
Sorry buddy, cant buy notion we'll EVER have a problem filling up Cameron, at least while the GOAT is at the helm....OFC
Mayweather's crimes weren't petty....
OFC
Domestic violence?Lighten up and lets not get offended at everything.
I never mentioned his acts were petty. I know what he is and you know I wouldn't never condone something like that. Look at what I said. He bought the tickets. They weren't given to him. Duke as an institution had nothing to do with him being in attendance. What was Coach K supposed to do have security have him escorted out. I doubt Coach K even knew he was there until after the fact. This article was written for one purpose only and that was to put Duke in dim light and get people to react which they have done. OFC
He was there cheering (his home state) Arkansas. We were immaterial to that decision.
Goodness people. Everyone who is anybody flock to Floyd whenever he is around. Wherever he is, he has a camera in his face and is surrounded by stars. He’s a free man, and he came to watch the greatest show in college basketball.
We should write about everyone else that hangs with him too. I mean Magic Johnson went and said hi to him at the all star game last night. Oh but wait, Magic had sex with thousands of girls and got aids. Should probably stay away from him too.
Not my point. My point is you probably have no idea about it before you read that article. You’re reacting just how people want you to. It’s a big deal because it’s now and it’s at Duke. My point is the rest of the world has pretty much accepted it and moved on. He’s a FREE MAN. And the greatest boxer in the history of the sport. Are people going to get that upset if Ray Lewis comes and watches a game and meets the team afterwards? I’m sure Floyd wasn’t like, hey Zion! You jump so high man! You should get a couple girls pregnant and slap em around a little!Idc care about magic or others. I care about my all time favorite program which has routinely set the standard and done things the right way. If he has a ticket I have no issue. But for our program, players and coaches to fawn over a man who beat the mother of his children. 4 different accounts over 10 years of him beating women. This is not a man who lost his temper once and yelled at his wife people.

Man 2019 America is soft.
Till this day he has denied he did anything at all, despite his own son telling the account of seeing his mother being kicked in front of him.
I’ll say this the last time and I’m done with this thread forever. I’m totally fine with the man living his life. But for our program to act like he’s this great guy and this board to act like, “ come on now, it’s not so bad.” Is all ridiculous. If he did once, if even did it twice and came out and said sorry, I could work with it. For example, I’m way more understanding of Ray Rice, whose shown way more remorse.
But a guy who with 4 different cases over 10 years of beating women with no true remorse? Who are we sticking up for?
I’m out.
You seem to be ignoring some serious transgressions by Duke in the past to Crete your own little romantic novel.Idc care about magic or others. Btw, no way he paid for that ticket. The ones behind the bench are compedIdc care about magic or others. I was with you until this. Shame you didn't have the stamina and self-control to finish strong.Man 2019 America is soft.
My point was that no one is perfect, and there are probably people in those stands that would make Mayweather look like a saint. I don't condone what he did, but this is a country that believes that people that pay for their crimes are allowed a 2nd chance. No problem, we just see this differently.
OFC
Not a good decision IMO....

No problems at all my friend... OFC
Oh yeah, Hart, we're just 2 guys who have a difference of opinion on this particular subject. I can understand how you and others feel the way you do.

FIFYThe Great Mayweather beats women. Man if our guys could have the focus and work ethic of that guy every night we would kill everyone, including women. Most fundamentally sound fighter ever, fine-tuned against women. Love to watch him (between beatings of women, presumably). This article is stupid though, because I'd rather ignore that he beats women. I’m sure there are at least 100 people in those stands that have done what he has done (beat women in front of their children) and maybe worse, like not being a great boxer. Man who beats women came to enjoy a game and people bringing up his past beating women and likely present beating women and likely future beating women to get clicks. Beating women: That’s pathetic.
