If I'm not mistaken, it was mentioned that Durant was coming and at the last min he couldn't and gave his ticket to Mayweather. If people want to make a big deal out of that nonsense, then they are fishing in my opinion. Duke is just as popular as any other sports team right now, which will draw any and everybody to the games.
I can only imagine the backgrounds of other people who have watched them play at some point in the past. Man its great being a Duke fan these days right lol. The hate is real.

I’m not a fan of Mayweather because of what he did to women multiple times. I have no respect for anyone that lays their hand on a woman.

Key point in the article is “paying customer.” Just because he’s at the game HE bought a ticket to doesn’t mean Duke embraces domestic violence. That’s just asinine. That’s like saying anyone who rode on a bus with Charles Manson is pro murder because they shared a space with him.

As they should. He hit women. Yet they act buddy buddy to him. It’s wrong.

Well stated Crazy. Sent a bad message. I was shocked he was allowed in the area off limits to "other paying customers" where I couldnt take my grandchildren if desired...

This thread is useless and unnecessary. Welcome to the 21st century. You think college kids thought about his legal issues at the game. Heck no, they thought, man that dude is the best boxer I have ever scene, lets show him how great Duke is. Lighten up and lets not get offended at everything.

@PatrickYates what do you think? I just had Taco Bell so this could be a long one.

Genuinely Don't Care. At All. He's a jerk, and I wouldn't want my kids palling around with him, or emulating him, but he has paid his debt to society. And hasn't had problems since then. If he'd gone unpunished, it would be one thing. He did a bad thing, got caught, was tried in a court of law, found guilty, and did his time.
.
We had a pre-POTUS Trump, and seem like we'll have a post POTUS Obama for home UNC games. That is a much bigger get IMO.

As long as Duke is the best thing smoking, everybody want a piece regardless of their past life. I guess with some of the comments, we have to realize the good and bad comes with the territory.
As a former State Trooper here in Atlanta, I believe if you have paid your debt to society, you deserve to roam this great country of ours without being judged. I'm not for domestic violence on anybody, but he paid his dues. Some haven't and still walk among us, just without the high profile.

Former DA here, and I feel the same. Further, he's not shown any recidivist tendencies in this area, so it seems like the system worked.

It is what it is Hart. I wouldn’t get too worked up over it.

Not worked up- too danged old for that GJ. Just thought it was a legit talking point for our esteemed membership...Thats all.... However I dare say if the school down the road fraternized w/him at one of their home games, I would probably be leading the charge in protest...

I can’t stand Mayweather and I think he’s an arrogant pos but like PatrickYates said, he did his time for the crime he committed and he hasn’t done anything else similar since. It’s like with Michael Vick, everyone hated him when he was convicted for being involved with a dog fighting ring (I was one of those people) but he did his time and hasn’t gotten in any more trouble since and like someone else said, he was at the game because Durant was planning on going to the game but at the last minute he couldn’t make it so he gave his ticket to Mayweather. Also like others have said, I think that it’s being made a big deal because he was at a Duke game and some people will use any excuse to criticize Duke just because everyone loves to hate Duke.

If you check dukes social media, they sure weren’t shy about showing that he was there and our players and coaches were stoked to be seen with him.

Yeah that surprised me somewhat, although our SID painted a different picture somewhat. Conflicting signals I guess.

I’m willing to bet the players don’t even know about his legal issues.
