I don't know. Impossible game to play. Whistles on nearly every single possession. Wouldn't read too much into this either way.
Yeah it's getting to be where cbb is unwatchable. Way too many foul calls.

Yep, this is one you just forget about and move on. Like it never happened...well, other than the W, of course.

It will benefit a team like us more than anyone this season. And going forward it will Be good for the game. Teams like Louisville Wisconsin and others won't be able to mug and grab teams.

Exactly. The average basketball follower won't understand what is trying to be accomplished. The goal is to eventually get to a more free-flowing game. There will be some painful games as players figure out what they are allowed to do, but in the end freedom of movement will be greater and we will see a smoother game with higher scoring. @kyjeff1 calling cbb unwatchable demonstrates that he clearly has no concept of the game and what is trying to be accomplished.

This game was a good teaching tool for Skal. He is going to have to learn how to move his feet on D and how to better position himself on the block on O. Lots for the young fella to learn and improve.

I agree about the freedom of movement adjustment period and that it will make for a better game in the long run. However, tonight was an abomination of officiating. It wasn't just the freedom of movement calls...it was...well, everything else. They were truly awful. I'm no expert, but I did used to be a h.s. basketball official, so I know a *little* something about it. These guys sucked at a very high level of suckage.

I think Skal may test Cal like few players have. For starters, Cal is always hard on the guys he thinks have the most talent. Second, he can't STAND when players are soft. And right now, there's no way to sugar coat it - Skal is soft. I guess that's to be expected because he really has zero competitive experience. But it's going to test Cal's patience.

I'm sure Skal will be fine personally, but if this is true, it sounds kinda like what Krzyzewski may have to go through with Brandon Ingram.

And yes, a win is a win. At least you guys weren't in any danger like Maryland was against Rider, for instance. But looking at the box score, I was semi-surprised Isaac Humphries didn't get in the game (unless he's injured and I'm unaware). As I said on Tuesday, I liked the way he looked against Duke.

Yes, I can see down the road if Skal doesn't learn to hate losing as much as Cal does, it could make for some frustration. But it is way too early to make any real assumptions at all about Skal's internal motor. He is basically a deer in headlights right now.

Yeah there were a bunch of fouls called because it seemed clear that was Wright State's entire strategy. They fouled us every time down the floor. They played like a bunch of punks. I didn't care for their style much at all. They had some good shooters and they kept jacking threes, but I think we all knew they would.

Yes, the team was a bit hungover from an emotional standpoint from Duke. This game was just one of those games where multiple factors led to it being an ugly one. Oh well, we'll take the win and move on.

This game was such an afterthought to me I made plans to go on a date with my gf tonight...and then realized after 11/20 was a Friday and I had made plans...I kept the plans and did not watch the game live. My point is....I didn't care much about this game, so why would any of our players? I hate to say it, but they are young college kids and they are gonna have games they are not up for this season. I just hope it is not on the road against some SEC teams that can take advantage of a lazy night.

It wasn't the prettiest or most enjoyable game but we controlled it from start to finish and left with a win. Not every game is a masterpiece and that's ok.

I'm sure Coach Calipari got some great talking points to use in practice, and that's the most important part of these games anyway.

I get the point of the new rules but at this point, right now, it's not fun to watch. There are foul calls on every play.

I thought Wright State played a smart game. Give up absolutely nothing easy on defense, don't even bother to challenge UK's shotblockers on offense- take the jumpshot, which they hit enough of to not get completely blown out. The defensive intensity wasn't really there for UK, and UK got a little frustrated constantly driving the ball into a packed-in D (and constantly getting hacked). Hopefully, a good learning experience.

One thing I will say is that if teams are going to play UK like that (and many will), then I think Cal needs to put a little more effort into setting up 3 point shots. It's totally understandable that he wants his guards to attack the D (and it absolutely killed Duke), but if you're driving into 4 guys all the time, somebody should be wide open on the perimeter.
