I still think Grayson is Duke's best 3 point shooter. He just needs to be taking good 3 point shots, not contested NBA 3's early in the clock.

All I can say is "Holy Sh*t"!!!!!!. Just cannot wait until we get everyone back with a little rest and healing. We have strong subs at the 2,3,4,and 5. Subs at point are more than adequate, just not great. I would love to see what UNCheat fans are saying over at THR, but, alas, I have been banned.

Grayson had a very rough first half. He would be the first to tell you that. In the second half he was spectacular. He stopped forcing and took just four shots (making two) and his passing and defense were great. I can live with that.

Luke and Amile are playing out of their mind, and last night we saw glimpses of what Tatum brings to the table. But please don't forget how special of a player Grayson is and will be. He's an All-American who right now is playing hobbled and leaving everything on the floor.

I said this somewhere else, but I think it is very likely that this is the Grayson we see all year. Turf toe isn't going anywhere without sustained rest, and he won't get that during the season even if he isn't practicing. It is tough to watch such a talented player be robbed of his athleticism and explosiveness. But last night showed though that he can still be impactful. That's a big credit to him.

He can play smarter, similar to 2nd half. That he can do. He clearly doesn't have a bad case of turf toe as that could require surgery. I'm assuming he guts it out the next two weeks then gets a good Christmas break to be ready for Vtech on the 31st.

I think Grayson could afford to miss a couple of games in December if that means his injury heals a bit. We can certainly beat UNLV, Tennessee State, and Elon without Grayson... But I suspect he'll at least play in the Vegas game.

So Grayson clearly does not have turf toe? Nasty, you KNOW that. I mean , do you two hang out? Does he have any kind of toe injury? Is he just playing with a fake limp? The kid is hurt. You act like you want more from him. He's been playing his GD guts out for us. I really don't understand you sometimes.

On all UNC message boards ,some are fessing up to Duke's talent level and admitting it will be tough to beat them. Some say they will take their front line any day of the week over Duke's. Need a few more games and Giles to play until they all might see it will be a difficult game to win.

I came on here to comment on Grayson's second half performance and you said what needed to be said. There were some comments that he should be on the bench in second half because of his shot selection/poor scoring. He showed why that would have been the wrong decision. He played extremely smart taking just four shots and turning his game to a support role.

Toughest kid on the team.

When he leaves Grayson will be you of the most loved Duke players ever. He's had a tough season so far but despite that he still has 3 game balls from this board. He gets enough grief from the and RR for we here at DI to question his game. When healthy opposing teams will design their defense strategy with him as the #1 option for Duke. He makes the game easier for his tea mates and makes them better. He may not be the NCAAPOY or ACCPOY this or even All-American but he is our key and glue. I think Coach K knows better than we do. Grayson just needs to settle down a little and control his shot. OFC

If you slowed down to read people's posts and not jump the gun you would maybe understand others better. I said he clearly doesn't have a BAD case of turf toe. If you have turf toe really bad you shut it down or get surgery as you can make it substantially worse by playing on it. So with Grayson playing on it, one can clearly assume it's not a bad case. Annoying, yes, not letting him practice, yes but something he can play through.

Why is it so much to ask an all american pre season player of the year to play intelligently? I'm not asking him to do more, i'm asking him to do LESS!! He should be more of a jump shooter, and drive to create for others and score if it's there, instead he has been driving with only the intent to score and it hasn't been there. He improved and played much better in the 2nd half.

You don't bench someone and not bring them back in, you bench them to clear their head and make sure they understand their roles/responsibilities. K clearly got the message across at half time.

I've been banned twice but I'll log out occasionally to see what's being talked about over there that might not have made it into our THR thread

Nasty, I like what you said about taking him out of the game and coaching him and then reinserting him. When you say bench a player, it rubs a lot of us the wrong way.

Yea, I read how you wrote it, maybe you didn't write it how you meant it. I'm not hatin on ya, but it does drive me absolutely insane when we are playing well and somebody in the game thread can only point out the faults going on. Maybe that's just me.

or the opposite, everyone glares over all the compliments but only see's the comments posted about someone needing to play better. Believe me, a lot of praise on Amile, Luke, Tatum, but it's easier to discuss imperfection, and debate on ways to improve. We had 3 players that were unreal, then 3 that were on the opposite end. It was a different game, and easy to heap praise on some and critique on others.

And, I seriously do not know how any human alive could ask anymore of Grayson Allen. That's the toughest little SOB I have ever seen wear a Duke uni, and we've had some tough ones.
i agree, and i'll say it again. I think he needs to do less and let the game come to him more and not be so locked in to just scoring. I have no problem with him taking 20 shots if they're good, but with our talent, no one should be forcing it.

Agree. The thing I think Grayson is doing too much of is trying to draw contact. He gets criticized by other fanbases as a "flopper." I think it is more he is trying too hard to draw contact. But he is definitely a tough kid.

Pound for pound I'd take Bobby Hurley as the toughest kid to ever put a Duke uniform on. Just my opinion.

All good choices. The thing about Singler is he would throw himself around and then smile like he enjoyed it. He had a little "crazy" in him.

But Hurley would challenge anyone no matter how big.

Think Amile may steal ACCPOY.

Thought it was a GREAT win and proud of the whole team. Not perfect but I got no complaints

Grayson is a head down, all or nothing driver. I think he could learn a lot from Luke and his pull up jumper. And as much as I love Grayson, there are times when he undoubtedly flops. Other fanbases just pretend no one on their team does it.

I don't care what kind of injury or issue you have with your foot, whether it be major or minor, it sucks and makes life miserable. It can be a sprained toe or ankle, an ingrown toe nail, a bone spur, plantar fascias or turf toe, it all sucks, and to go at it like Grayson has, he gets props. I admit I got frustrated with him the first half, but I love the kid.

He doesn't hate Duke. He just knows that everyone else hates Duke, so he's reduced to cloaking his Duke love in concrete stats LOL

But how dare he draw favorable attention to our team!

How about these guys as a starting five in their prime.
Bobby Hurley
Grayson Allen
Art Heyman
Kyle Singler
Christian Laettner.

All pretty heart, tough hard nosed players. This came off the top of my head. Name some other Dukies that could fill out this team. OFC

Not that I'd put him up there with the toughest guys at Duke, but it made me think of Trajon Langdons senior game against UNC, he wasn't playing well, almost got his eye poked out, was takin out of the game and came back and had a great game and they beat UNC....man what a team that was.
