Big time win!!! I, like a lot of us, was guilty of getting a little too excited after UNLV, but it was less about a signature win and more about the potential of this team.

Grayson very well could be our PG going forward. He moved the ball and more importantly just looked comfortable in that role.

Harry is getting better everyday! His rebounding the past two games has been unreal. He looks right now like a kid who was 5'8 and grew to 6'6 over the summer. He's working into his body so a lot of things offensively will look better by February.

The rest of the team looks as how we expected them to. Jayson is finding a rhythm, Luke is a problem, Frank is getting there and Amile is doing what he does (and he could really do more). Matt's role was significantly reduced which suits him, though his help defense was missed tonight.

The bottom line is that this team responded in a big way.

The question tonight: are you satisfied with what you saw? What else would you like to see improved? If not tonight, what to you will signal that this team has arrived?

Giles 12 and 10 in 17 minutes at about 65%. That. Is. Insane.

Bolden looked good as well. Damn this team can be good when clicking.

So many positive.,, I'll touch on the areas of improvement I see since that's my MO.

Amile all aspects. Still feel like he's playing poor for him, got out rebounded a bunch in the first half and missed some easy ones

Tatum driving first and only shooting shots when squared up on balance, capel got on him for off balance 3s

This 15-20 minute role for matt. Had a nice game but Grayson and Luke will play heavy minutes in closer games and we need frank to step up because of what he brings more than matt

Work on understanding transition d and who needs to be back, still too many 2-1 fast breaks against us

Don't need Giles and bolden taking jump hooks, layups and dunks

All very correctable.., key is energy and paying hard and smart

They played great. To me 3 things were a factor.

1. They hit all those 3s to start. They haven't shot well and that always helps everything else
2. They played at Cameron
3. Grayson. He is our best PG at this point.

And an honorable mention- the 3 freshmen played better. Bolden didn't do a ton but that one offensive rebound and then dunking it was nice. Giles got a double double but he still looks a bit out of a sync. In a month, I think we have a good one with him

Very happy that we played from the first whistle until the final horn with all out hard play and intensity. I know we can't play like this for the full games in all of the rest of the game but it sends a message to all that despite the rankings Duke is still the team to beat and I understand that G.Tech. is not an elite team this year but Duke went out and beat them the way they should have beaten them. Good post.

Just to clear up, are you saying you want Matt to play even less? I felt like his time was perfect. And he produced.

First, I know it was on the road, but how did UNCheat lose to this team?

Loved seeing Giles get the start and seeing Grayson get back in. In fact, that is the starting lineup I hope we stick with.

Grayson has been our best distributor all season. He's our PG and I'm excited he's back. His shot was back too.

Amile and Luke were their normal consistent selves. Matt was as well. Excited we have these guys to help anchor the team.

I thought Frank looked better than he has in a while. His shot was dropping too.

I thought Bolden looked very good on defense. He denied a lot of entry passes. It was more just a talent gap, but he seemed to be working hard, which was great. He also ran the floor with purpose from what I can tell. I liked that.

It's hard to explain this, but the way I feel about Tatum at this point in the season is how I felt about Justise at this point. I think he gets a bit jump shot happy when he should just stick to his aggression and attacking which makes him so special. That being said, I hope his shot develops like it did for Justise.

Very happy to see us working together so well. Allen is the linchpin and Amile and Matt are the anchors. I'm really excited to see us keep working.

Just can't say enough how happy I was to see Grayson back in the fold and composed. I hope he keeps it up because we need him.

It's amazing how in a matter of four days it went from a wasted season to being untouchable again. I kid, I kid.

This was a glimpse of how good this team can be....but we also have to remember this was a home game. We'll learn a lot more about how far this team has come when we go to Tallahassee and Louisville back-to-back next week. So for now, some cautious optimism.

-Giles is starting to round to form....that's scary for the rest of the conference and country.
-Grayson looked so good in his role tonight....but the ultimate tests will come when the road games get going. He better be prepared because he's brought it all on himself.
-Tatum has a tendency to sometimes gets his shots not in the flow of the offense. I'm maybe imagining this, but I felt in the first half he was almost forcing a bit because he didn't feel to be a part of the explosion.
-Matt is suited more for a role that sees him play 15-25 minutes --- depending on the opponent and matchup. When he's knocking down jumpers like he was tonight it's just a huge bonus.
-Luke is just really good. Like All-American good.
-Tomight the jumper was going for Frank --- and the whole team for that matter --- but I don't want him falling in love with it. His strength is creating off the bounce and getting into the lane. I still want to see more of that.
-I love Amile. He's having a special season right now.
-For the first time all season we saw Marques play a little angry and with a chip on his shoulder. We need that more.

It was a fun night, and I expect Saturday will/should be another blowout win....but I'll say this, two weeks from now we'll have more of an idea about where this team is potentially headed.

I felt this way after VT too. The statement can't be made at home. It's gotta be done against FSU where past and better Duke teams have struggled against worse FSU teams. If they can go beat a legit top 15 team at home, things will feel much more...right I guess is the phrasing.

That looked more like Duke Basketball. That's how we need to play moving forward. Need to get Giles and Bolden in a rhythm to be the team everyone expected before the season started. I hope tonight was foreshadowing of things to come...

We still struggle defensively with transition and help side big time though!

Harry is 100 miles from back still, but he made up 100 miles tonight. I smiled so hard for this kid tonight. Grayson looked great, forced nothing. He draws a TON of attention which creates great passing opportunities for sure. The new guys, all of them are finally playing, feels amazing. Kennard should have a nickname like "The Mint" because his *** is money. I just love Frank. His takes to the basket are so solid. He REALLY blazes when that 3 ball is dropping. I'm confident Capel will do well. I'm confident K will be back. I know some cruddy losses are still ahead, but the overall product is in the process of being born. We're gonna catch fire, road game, tough environment and the gel will happen. So frigging excited for it.

My major takeaways:
-Wow. Tonight's performance was the Duke team we've been waiting to see! LOVED the ball movement. We have so much individual talent, but tonight was one of the first times we've seen a talented TEAM.
-Grayson was huge in this role of the primary ball handler and if we play like we did tonight in transition, we're going to be a problem.
-Just happy to see Giles perform like he did tonight. For such a great kid to go through all of that adversity, even the biggest Duke hater should be rooting for him.

Let's keep it going next game!

Dukehokie, don't be mad. I think we get smacked at Tallahassee. But things will start happening after that one.

The good thing about this lineup is we can sub Matt Frank and Bolden and not miss a beat

One of the announcers mentioned that we may have started Giles tonight because Georgia Tech has a traditional lineup with two bigs, but I hope that's not the case. Our lineup tonight gives more balance to both our starting lineup and bench so I hope we continue to see it.

Part of me says you are right, but if the boys go down there and handle business, the sun will be shining a little brighter.

Meh. Unless something drastic changes that's the lineup moving forward. Frank and Matt are the perfect compliment to Grayson and Luke off the bench. They are in with the other team's second team as opposed to their first teamers. Great situation for Duke.

If duke needs to go big with Tatum at the 3 then yes, because luke and Grayson will play big minutes. But 15-20 seems most likely and about right.

Important play of game no one noticed. Grayson drove & collided hard with GT player in lane then helped him up. Hopefully this is a sign that Grayson learned his lesson.

Go see Ks press conference on go duke. Sounds like this was the planned lineup (Giles and Jefferson and Allen as pg) heading into season. Obviously injuries changed this plan.

It looked like Grayson headbutted the guy on-purpose.

(Obviously I'm joking, but that's been suggested by fans on other boards.)
