The defense isn't extended out as much this first 3 min. I wonder if that's because Thornton has three fouls or because of how they were penetrating.

I'd like to see more of this because our length can bother most people and it will allow less penetration and better rebounding.

I like when Derryck takes over the free throw line huddle. He and Matt will be the glue for next season's uber talented squad.

That's our first substitution this half at the 13 min mark. I don't know what you do moving forward, but I feel like if your Coach K and Duke you should have guys that can give you some minutes.

This will be a real problem until Amile is back.

Jeter not playing much cause LBSU plays small.

The bench is what it typically is. The guys on the bench will be more ready by February's end. Not necessarily in December. Most of the bench is first year players don't forget.

I like that Duke has been able to extend the lead in man to man. Effort effort effort.

This team will fight to go 10-8 in ACC without Jefferson. I stand by that, and if I'm wrong, I'll be here to eat my words.

And why, why, why is Chase not getting burn? Crazy.

I'll take you up on that 10-8 and raise you a 13-5 though I feel you. The ACC is a tough conference and this team isn't where it should be Amile or not.

No Jeter because he struggles with small quick teams on secondary D.

Jeter doesn't struggle that bad compared to MP3 on these type teams, especially not enough to warrant 6 mins through 55.

13-5? I'll take that all day long without Amile.

Plumlee has basically played the whole game looks like Jeter could get a few minutes here and there especially with the lead growing

Good thing we won't be without Amile through February. :D

Chase's struggles are more mental than capability. His help side d is solid but rebounding and weak side d is still a work in progress. His sit is more a lesson learned type of thing, not K's inability to stack a bench.

Jeter or just another body - 3-4 mins a half to rebound and play hard on the defensive end...couldnt hurt to try but it never happens - always 8 man rotation and now 7....its a perpetual beef....play more bodies in the early season, better in the regular and post season - but counter argument is we are National champs under current rotation philosophy...so hard to argue

As soon as Chase adds some strength he'll be tough to deal with. He has great unteachable tools such as length and athleticism, but his hands are a big issue. He has solid footwork too, but until you catch the ball, it doesn't matter. He's got to slow himself down.

National champs with an 8 man rotation, not 6. 81 points to LBSU, considering the firepower in the ACC?

Look, I know I appear overly negative now, but I'm tempering my expectations for this team. Hoping for best, but even when Amile returns in mid to late Feb, I think they see 10-8. Gonna be a tough ride. Ready to buckle up.

Sounds easy but if your guys can't rebound then there becomes a trust issue. K's philosophy is that practice is where players are created not game's. I know the preference is to want it to happen now, but be patient. Amile comes back in Feb. and Chase will be a 10 - 12 minute guy in key situations by then.

Just a discussion, crank. Love your passion though.

I put more stock in point differential than points allowed. When you play so many possessions teams will score. They are D1 college players too. Meaning they have talent. Duke beat them by 20 after being down in the first and they did it in the man to man. That is promising to me.

I missed the second half because we lost power just before the second half started. We still don't have power and might not have power for at least another our. At least it isn't summertime. lol

I have to Chuckle when I read the talk about minutes played and being tired.
My goodness, these players are 18-22 years old, their recovery time is not like a 40 yr old. Heck, just back off on the running in practice if need be. It's funny how some people always question Coach K not using his bench and then the Tarhole fans wish Ol Roy would shorten his. I'll trust that Coach K knows what he's doing and leave it at that.

Well, that was certainly interesting. These learning lessons are killing me !! We might as well get used to it, it is going to be a long season. All of us got spoiled last year, and we just have to adjust like these kids are adjusting.
You have to give these kids credit, they really hung in there when things were looking bad, and I believe they will continue to do so. Sometimes you have to look at the positive side; tonight Brandon, Grayson, and Luke started out struggling; Derryck and Matt picked them up until Brandon hit a couple of shots, then Grayson caught fire. This is a very good sign guys, imagine all of them playing on the same page, and it will eventually happen, we just have to hang in there with them.
Granted, there is a very good chance that we finish as low as fourth in the ACC, maybe even a four seed in the NCAAT, it remains to be seen, but I would not advise writing us off just yet. There is a lot of talent on this team, it is just so extremely young and still finding its way.
Remember these kind of games, some of the beatings we're probably going to take, how we felt a couple of times last year, and let's see where we are in Feb/March/April.
Right now I feel pretty good about this young team, and no matter what happens, I think I will feel much better a little later in the season!
Go Duke!!

To hear Coach K after the game on Duke Radio Network you would have thought we lost by 30. He was not happy with today's performance.

I feel better after watching Maryland struggle with Penn St and Virginia tied with Oakland at halftime. I think we will lose 4-6 games in conference play, but there will be more close games than we want to see. Just remember what Coach we have makings the decisions.

The team after a title team always gets scrutinized a bit more than others. Put this team behind the Jabari squad or the Rivers team and we would be saying "this team has so much fight" or "they are gelling there's definitely hope", etc.

If K is pist I am pist but I'm not really all that concerned yet! DT is picking it up! We can score in bunches! 10-8 is laughable to me at this point

^^^ Yeah, that's also one thing we all tend to forget, there is so much parity in CBB right now, you have to bring it every night, and that's hard enough for a veteran team, let alone one as young as ours. If there is anyone that can find the answers, Coach "K" and Staff will work things out and find a solution.
Go Duke!!

This is a good thing. After the 2nd half performance with Elon and most of tonight's 1st half most good teams are gonna beat us if we had a game like that. With that being said I believe we will be fine. I think the team needed that. We will see what character it brings out with B.C. OFC

Being a former collegiate athlete, even 18-22 y/o kids get tired, dog-tired at that. That card simply doesn't work - the demand on a 6-player rotation at a D1 level is silly.

6 isn't ideal and certainly not what K likes.... But it's reality. We can "steal" some minutes from 7-8 guy but the core is 6. Make the most of it!! Or maybe we should chance a home loss to LBST in order to "rest" some guys. I'm with K on this one
